Me myself would love to have a way to integrate both of phpBB and Drupal but nothing available so far.

If any one find a way then I am in.
again, the phpbbforum module works great once installed, and with the instruction that i wrote it can't be that hard ;)
hum ... maybe it is me who can not follow up quite well due to my knowledge and background. I will try again and feed you back.

Installation is one thing, but keeping it up to date is something else. My main concern would be any problems when updating Drupal or phpBB.

Lets say I install phpBB 3.0.5 with Drupal 6.14 and everything is working fine. What is the process of updating one or both when an update is released?

The phpBBforum module install process requires a patch to phpBB files. Doesn't that complicate or hinder updating phpBB and or Drupal?

No need to worry about that ;)

You can update drupal anytime, as long as the user system is not touched it will function like it has to be, the same thing goes for phpbb3.. and the phpbb3 needs only code to be added and not replaced so updating phpbb3 is easy.

it does not require to be patched! VB says it, but it's not required.. you only need to add code to functions_user.php in the phpbb3 includes dir, updating phpbb3 works like a charm and i can already tell you that the module works in phpbb 3.0.6 RC1 ;)

see the instructions here;

Code: Select all

http://rapidshare.com/files/282759885/phpbb_forum.zip.html
when you've done them all correct it should work ;)

Thank you for the link.

I have decided to use the Advanced Forum module. It is not as good as phpBB, but it is easier to integrate with the site functionality and appearance.

Just wanted to mention that I use Drupal and also phpbb forums. We have it set up where the Drupal integrates with the phpbb forum. They login and even register for the forum through our main page (Drupal) and they only have to login once (also they can login from themain page which is Drupal or on the phpbb forum). I don't know if you got that figured out yet or not on how to do that.

I have not seen any issues until now we have been trying to update my forum to phpbb 3.0.5 and it is not working and it always messes up my main website when I try to upgrade. I am wondering if it is because I am using Drupal. I am going to check out the links a few of you suggested.

Thanks

if you use the phpbbforum module i can garantee that it works ;)

edit: the module that i mention should work as long as the drupal and or phpbb3 user system doesn't change.... so i don't know about D7, but D7 is still far ahead and i won't update untill cck and views ar ported to D7 in a stable release.

Just want to say that I've tried the module with phpbb and it is working brilliant.

Also Rocket Themes may do themes for Drupal which will take it to a new layer.

So let's hope to find it comes true.

 :) 8-)

Im using this system too.. it's working great
Can't embed into my drupal but that's because I am using a different style in phpbb
Also had rpoblems with links but that got sloved when I moved phpbb from folder phpbb3 to phpbbforum
Small detail was after setting up phphbbforum users that were already registered in drupal were not adpated into phpbb
Oh well
I hope Im talking about the same bridge btw..
