PhPBB Session Fields

Post by onlineservant »

Hi everyone. Happy New Year to all! Anyone could possibly help me on integrating PhPBB with my websites. I mean the SESSION FIELDS. So, when I login to PHPBB the rest of the pages outside the forum is also logged in. Hope you get what I mean. Is there a documentation of the SESSION FIELDS used when you login to phpbb?

Thanks in advance. I hope I am not OT. ;)

Moved to MOD Writers Discussion.

There is a KB article on this: phpBB3 Cross-site Sessions Integration

You might try reading the phpBB3 Cross-site Sessions Integration and phpBB3 Sessions Integration Knowldge Base articles.

UPDATE: I see Tabitha gave you the first one as I was writing this.... :)

Out of curiosity, why do you ask?

No it is not. Phpbb does not use php native sessions.
Show phpbb threads as html articles. V.5.03 Thanks Erik! (This will be updated constantly as I or others contribute...) This code is to be used on external HTML page, but if you want a template version see here.

sir, i just want to avoid double login to my website. what i want is when a user login to forum he will be automatically logged in to the main website which uses $_SESSION['user_id_whatever']. also what kind of encryption method phbb used in hiding password. MD5()? actually the only session field i want to use is the forum "username" and make it available/accessible to all pages and subfolders of the site.

this is the site that im working with: http://www.s8ph.com/club/

hope you can help me.

Regards,
Arnel N.

If you want your Web site to share phpBB's sessions, read at least one of the following two KB articles:
If you want phpBB to share your Web site's authentication scheme, read the following Wiki page:

Authentication plugins

phpBB hashes passwords with a special algorithm; it does not encrypt them. Read about the differences in the Difference between encryption and hashing KB article.

By the way, I have never used any of this, so don't expect any more help from me. These questions have just been asked so many times that I know where to look. ;)
