Database (instead of lang file) Permissions

Hi,

I am currently writing a phpBB based CMS and want to integrate it into the phpBB permissions system without having to write a separate one.

Is there any way to populate permissions from a database rather than using a lang file or would this require significant modification?

Basically for every page added (pages are stored in the DB) I want configurable permissions. Basic sort of view/edit/comment etc. I know how to add the physical permissions with acl_add_options(), I just don't know how I would go about making them configurable in the ACP (without writing to a lang file or something)!

Can anyone suggest an easy(ish) way to do this?
