Bringing over a user table on a new install

Post by kateland »

Hi all, I'm trying to mentally work through what needs to be done if I were to install a fresh copy of phpbb and port my existing user base in it. The problem is I don't have a lot of time to crawl through code to answer my own questions. Hopefully someone out there is willing to help.

Challenges

1. Existing board is modded and way out of date, so user table is likely altered from original. Solution - compare vanilla phpbb_users to modded and drop the mod related fields

2. What other configuration values or tables are tied to users? phpbb_groups...would need to copy those values from the modded board to the fresh one. Anything else? What about the newest_user value? user count?

Any other suggestions or tips would be great. Thanks in advance.

The database cleaner in the Support Toolkit should remove the extra columns.
