Looks like something has overwritten your $db variable.

Re: Automatic login to phpBB from my site's login script

Post by aiswebtech » Fri Apr 16, 2010 10:21 am

Hi All,
using the following code, I can get a result of "Successfully logged in" on a blank white page.

What I don't understand is, what do I need to do to send the user to phpbb3 forum pages or the basic BB front index.

I have read all the posts here, but perhaps I'm missing something really simple??
Please can someone advise what code I need to tack on the end to redirect to a frum index or page.

Thanks for your help.

phpbb3 root: /phpbb3/
login script: /bblogin/try1.php

Code: Select all

try1.php:
    <?php
    define('IN_PHPBB', true);
    $phpbb_root_path = '../phpbb3/';
    $phpEx = substr(strrchr(__FILE__, '.'), 1);
    include($phpbb_root_path . 'common.' . $phpEx);

    // Start session management
    $user->session_begin();
    $auth->acl($user->data);
    $user->setup();

    if($user->data['is_registered'])
    {
        //User is already logged in
        echo "ALREADY LOGGED IN<br>\n";
    }
    else
    {
#        $username = request_var('username', '', true);
#        $password = request_var('password', '', true);
        $username = "andyt";
        $password = "andyt";

        $result = $auth->login($username, $password);

        if ($result['status'] == LOGIN_SUCCESS)
        {
            //User was successfully logged into phpBB
        echo "SUCCESSFULLY LOGGED IN<br>\n";
        }
        else
        {
            //User's login failed
        echo "LOGIN FAILED!<br>\n";
        }
    }
    ?>

Help Required..Form Auto submit not working

I have my site, say website.ie
I then have the forums configured with website.ie/users/clubs
I'm have a login form on website.ie /users/index.php which asks for username and password.
When the user enters their login details, they will be logged into the my sites user controlpanel.

In my sites user controlpanel, I have a link called ”Club” when a user click on this link I need the user automatically logged on to PHPBB (website.ie user login details are same as PHPBB’s)

For that I created a page under website.ie/users/club_login.php with following script

Code: Select all

/**** My script to take username and password starts here****/
$OBJe_students	= new e_students($db_obj);
$e_students_id		= (isset($_SESSION['e_students_id']) && $_SESSION['e_students_id'] != "0")? $_SESSION['e_students_id'] : "0";
$ArrStudentDetials = $OBJe_students->vewStudentsDetails($e_students_id);
$email_address = $ArrStudentDetials[0]["email_address"];
$password = $ArrStudentDetials[0]["password"];
/**** My script to take username and password ends here****/

define('IN_PHPBB', true);
$phpbb_root_path = './clubs/';
$phpEx = substr(strrchr(__FILE__, '.'), 1);
include($phpbb_root_path . 'common.' . $phpEx);

// Start session management
$user->session_begin();
$auth->acl($user->data);
$user->setup();
//print_r($_SESSION);
?>
<html>
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=windows-1252">
<meta name="GENERATOR" content="Microsoft FrontPage 4.0">
<meta name="ProgId" content="FrontPage.Editor.Document">
<title>Clubs Login</title>
</head>

<body>
<?php
if($user->data['is_registered'])
{
	header("Location:clubs/index.php");
	exit;
//echo("Hi " . $user->data['username'] . "!<br /><br /><a href=" . $phpbb_root_path . 'ucp.php?mode=logout&redirect=../index.php' . '&sid=' . $user->data['session_id'] . ">Logout</a>");
}
else
{
?>
<form action="clubs/ucp.php?mode=login" name="formmain"  id="formmain" method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data">
<input type="text" name="username" value="<?php echo $email_address;?>" /><br />
<input type="password" name="password" value="<?php echo $password;?>" /><br />
<input type="checkbox" name="autologin" id="autologin" class="checkbox" />
<input type="submit" value="login" name="login" />
</form>
<script language="javascript">
//document.formmain.submit()
</script>
<?php
}
This script will work if I comment Form auto submit(as above).

Can anyone help me out with the code above?

Thanks in advance

Dear friends,

See the working code for forum automatic login from my website:

$ArrStudentDetials = $OBJe_students->vewStudentsDetails($e_students_id);
$email_address = $ArrStudentDetials[0]["email_address"];
$password = $ArrStudentDetials[0]["password"];
/**** My script to take username and password ends here****/

define('IN_PHPBB', true);

Code: Select all

   $user->session_kill();
   $user->session_begin();
I am integrating my site with MODx and I got the login working with $auth->login but the aforementioned code does not log my user out. Any ideas?

Can you show the full code that you are using? That has worked fine for me in the past.

logout.php

Code: Select all

<?php

	global $phpbb_root_path, $phpEx, $user, $auth, $template, $cache, $db, $config;
	require_once ('./forum/config.php');

	define ('IN_PHPBB', true);

	$phpbb_root_path = "./forum/";
	$phpEx = "php";

	require_once ($phpbb_root_path . 'common2.php');

	include ($phpbb_root_path . 'includes/functions_display.' . $phpEx);
	include_once ($phpbb_root_path . 'includes/functions_user.' . $phpEx);

	$user->session_begin();
	$auth->acl($user->data);
	$user->setup('ucp');
	$user->session_kill();
	$user->session_begin();
?>
This is the MODx code where it is called.

Code: Select all

	function Logout($type, $loHomeId = '')
	{
		$this->Type = $type;
		$this->loHomeId = $loHomeId;

		$this->OnBeforeWebLogout;
		$this->StatusToOffline();
		$this->SessionHandler('destroy');
 		include 'assets/snippets/phpbb/logout.php';
		$this->OnWebLogout;

		if ($type !== 'taconite')
		{
			$this->LogoutHomePage();
		}
	}
I thought at first that $user might be used by MODx but since I can login using phpBB sessions, I don't see why I can't log out.

Could it be a problem with cookies? MODx is at / and phpBB is at /forum/

cheers

Works okay when I tested it with a local MODx. I'm not entirely sure how you did it, but I tied it into the administration logout. It just includes:

Code: Select all

define('IN_PHPBB', true);
$phpbb_root_path = '../../forum/';
$phpEx = substr(strrchr(__FILE__, '.'), 1);
include($phpbb_root_path . 'common.' . $phpEx);

// Start session management
$user->session_begin();
$auth->acl($user->data);
$user->setup();

if($user->data['is_registered'])
{
   $user->session_kill();
   $user->session_begin();
}
I tossed a session on to the main site's index to check it and it logged out just fine.

Hello Noxwizard, Please forgive but I'm such a PHP Noob.
I have a Login Script I generated in DreamWeaver and I managed to add your script into it but all it does is send me to my successful login page which is "hello.php". Thinking that the session has been created Itry to to access the phpBB forum via a link or direct URL in the browser , I don't get automatically logged in.
What am I doing wrong? Please help.

Thank you in advance.

For not staying logged in, you will need to check that the forum's cookie path covers the page that contains the login. (ie. / instead of /forum/)

As for the lack of redirection after login, that's because you haven't told it to do anything.

Code: Select all

        if ($result['status'] == LOGIN_SUCCESS)
        {
            //User was successfully logged into phpBB
        }
        else
        {
            //User's login failed
        }
This was just a shell that needs to be filled in. You can either print out HTML in those sections or something like a meta-redirect.

The phpBB session should also be started before any HTML is sent to the screen.

Found solution for below for those who may need it.
White space before <? php must be removed. Makre sure <? php is all the way to the left.
Copying the code directly from here will add some space to some editors.
Hope this helps someone else.

Hello Noxwizard. Thank you for your response and a bit embarrassed about my newbness.
I followed through but I am getting this error:

"[phpBB Debug] PHP Notice: in file /includes/session.php on line 1007: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by"

What am I doing wrong?

Thank you in advance.

Is there anyway anyone can show me code for a simple login page with noxwizard's code so that I can learn from it since I am apparently clueless coming from an old .asp background.

It would be SO much appreciated.
Thank you.

Edit: Found a simple Login/SQL here:
http://www.phpeasystep.com/workshopview.php?id=6
add noxwizard's awesome code at the bottom of the "checklogin" page.
Make sure to have the variables ( $phpbb_root_path , $username and $password changed to match yours ).
Hope this helps other newbs.

Post by WeQu » Wed Dec 22, 2010 9:40 pm

Hello,

I have been testing some things and during login verification I am actually logged in.

Code: Select all

if ($result['status'] == LOGIN_SUCCESS) {
echo '<p>' . $user->data['username'] . '</p>';
echo '<p>' . $user->data['user_id'] . '</p>';
$time = 3;    //Seconds to wait before redirect
$url = redirect('/mtgcards/test-login.php', true);
echo '<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="' . $time . ';url=' . str_replace('&', '&', $url) . '" />';
I have altered my test-login.php to be like this:

Code: Select all

<?php
include_once 'phpbb.inc.php';
echo '<p>' . $user->data['username'] . '</p>';
echo '<p>' . $user->data['user_id'] . '</p>';
?>
When I enter this page, I have become "ANONYMOUS" instead of the user I was during login verification.

I had this solution working fine for about 2 years, but it seems recent changes on my webserver caused it to fail now :-(
They are now using Safe Mode Off and I know that causes disk_free_space, exec and passthru to fail now...
Could that perhaps be it?

Any idea?

Great script but I am having a weird issue to do with browser version.

In FF the script works fine logging the user in with the main site login and when they access the forum they are all set. In IE however (6,7 & 8) the login script works without error, a session is created in the PHPbb_sessions table but hit the board index (index.php) and the user is not logged in to phpBB.

How can this be different by browser version? Cookies are enabled in the browser.

Code: Select all

define('IN_PHPBB', true);
$phpbb_root_path = './forum/';
$phpEx = substr(strrchr(__FILE__, '.'), 1);
include($phpbb_root_path . 'common.' . $phpEx);

// Start session management
$user->session_begin();
$auth->acl($user->data);
$user->setup('ucp');

	if($user->data['is_registered']){
	    //User is already logged in
	    return;
	}else{

    $result = $auth->login($myrow['username'], $password);

	    if ($result['status'] == LOGIN_SUCCESS){
	        //User was successfully logged into phpBB
	        if ($ref !=""){
			header("location:$ref");
			}else{
			header("location:profile.php");
			}
	    }else{
        //User's login failed
         die( $result[ "error_msg" ] );
    	}
	}
