Replacing [you] with username

Post by ulong » Sun Nov 16, 2008 12:14 am

Hi!

I found nice mod:
http://www.vladd44.com/phpbb3-mods/phpb ... nt_mod.php
it replaces /you with your username... BUT:

how to change it to replace [you] with username?
Maybe is it possible to add bbcode with only opening section?
I mean bbcode which replaces [you] to /you will be also nice, but it must be just only [you] without [/you]

in phpbb2 it worked like is:
/me blah blah
replaced by
username blah blah
AFAIR it was simple fact of a preg_replace thing there in the code, not sure though since I have never read it.. do you have a link to that phpbb2 MOD?

 yes.. indeed

that's a bbcode add though.

I was referring to you that while posting in the text-area you write /me and then that /me becomes your username right after submitting the post. Don't know if I'm getting dense here.. :)

nonetheless that MOD you linked will do the trick anyway (but you have to use the BBcode there..

str_replace used, I see.

I want to replace exactly "[you]" to username of people who is already reading it :) Yes, u understood it right, but plz, make it [you], not /you. People who are using phpbb2 by przemo knows this function, and everyone knows [you] "function". ;)
This link could be nice, but remember - i want to make it to replace, when im writing just [you], not [you][/you].

Its nice, becouse in sig u can write "[you], do u wanna date with me" etc ;)

If you wanted to replace /you with the username then you could probably do it through the word censor and the NV Advanced Word Censor Mod that allows bbcode in the word filter replacement..

Then you just have /you replaced with [you]username[/you] in posts parsed correctly..

For /me and [me]username[/me] to work correctly.. you'd just need to know the html that grabs and displays the forum username of the person submitting the post for the [me] bbcode.. i think the [you] bbcode posted above just grabs whoever is viewing the message instead..
