yea i have tried to add the Facebook registration system into my registration page and spent hours on it with no luck. following this website ( http://www.9lessons.info/2011/01/user-s ... -data.html ) i made the changes i needed to make to the php code but as i said, no luck :( it would be cool if phpbb did add the option in in there next update.

Possibly. See these pages:
[RFC] Auth Plugin Refactoring & User Integration
Auth Plugin Refactoring & User Integration

PS. I do not endorse using Facebook since they do not respect users' privacy. But I still think the Auth Plugin Refactoring will be good because it will possibly make it easier for developers to make bridges and integrate other parts of websites. ;)

Somebody almost completed the MOD, but then dissappeared and has left the MOD only partially developed. You might want to continue from where he stopped:

http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=630563174283
here a video tutorial

they promise more tutorials for more advanced features in the future.

some tips:
the xd_receiver.htm file must be in your forum root, not the entire domain root
the posting form is in posting_editor.html, within your /styles/prosilver/template folder

that's all, so far it works

sorry for my bad english anyway
carefull, not english speaker native here

There seems to be some mixed responses as to whither this video will actually work, also 2008 was quite awhile back, maybe there has been some new changes. Should I go ahead and give the video a try, or is there a better way to set up Facebook Connect?

If anyone wants to try a new implementation of Facebook Connect, I have something that does merely OAuth and is working.

Please see OAuthorize phpBB

I use custom profile fields and am not adding any new tables.
Mods:
OAuthorize phpBB just a simple Facebook login plugin
phpBB Bootstrapped

It would allow anyone on Facebook to login to your board and use it as a registered member. I'm not so sure that's a good thing......

The plug-in from Paolo is working for me.
