No Access exception?

Post by Gideon5L2F »

We have a hidden forum on our board. Only members of 'Controversy group' can access it. If a topic cuts up rough on the open forums, a mod may move it to the hidden forum where the combatants can continue the battle between themselves.

A problem arises however when the topic starter is not a member of Controversy Group. His thread gets moved and he receives email notification that a reply had been made but when following the link he gets a message saying, "You are not authorized to read this forum."

Can an exception be made so that the topic starter and respondents can follow replies on their topic only yet without being able to read the other threads in the hidden forum? If I remember rightly this was possible in phpBB2. Anyway, can it be done?

It wouldn't have been possible in phpBB2, nor is it in phpBB3, without a MOD. As such, I have moved your post to MOD Requests.
