Multiple forums using the same database

^ The above topic details exactly what I was trying to see if was currently possible, but the gidst of it is getting multiple phpBB installations using the same, single database. Note that by single database, I mean shared user/login details - Not multiple forums using the same database by denoting different prefixes for the tables.
The forums themselves ideally wouldn't (shouldn't, but I know this is a bit much too ask of to begin with) share the same posts, just login details, meaning each forum's content would act independently of the others.
Any help, here? I think I saw a post elsewhere on something along the lines of this - Frankly, I might be willing to pay someone to get this kind of thing running.
