Sage

Post by bbewcm » Mon Mar 17, 2014 4:46 pm

Hello users
In some boards (chans) there is the "Sage" function. When you check "sage" while repling on a topic, the reply does not generate an up on that topic. This is to avoid upping shit threads when repling in them, or when one user adds a comment in a thread which he thinks is not very important to generate an up. Is there something similiar ever developed on phpbb?

I don't know what an "up" is, care to explain? :?

I'm guessing 'Bump'?

Will be interested in replies to this as a lot of topics can tend to just have a smiley as a reply for example, so maybe a character count of some sort could be done to add them/not add them to active topics list?

I think? that's what the OP is getting at?

I think the OP means the post needs approving by a moderator before it gets displayed ?

If that is what you want bbewcm you will need to change that forums permissions to "on moderation queue" for the group/s that it will apply to.

Up = bump

No, BCF, it isn't the same concept.

It is a choice by the user. The user choose to write a reply in a certain topic but doesn't want that reply to create an "up/bump" on the topic list. This means or "I like the topic, and think my reply doesn't add very much so I don't want to bump it" or "I don't like the topic, I don't want my reply to bump it".

So a spammer could reply to an old topic with pron links or something, and you would never know because the post does not show on recent topics?

There is no sense spamming in threads where no one notices it... ;)
