Well, for those too lazy to search...

Also, The MOD Team has been building MODX support right into EasyMOD*. With MODX, EasyMOD will become more powerful, more stable, and less hassle for MOD Authors and their users alike.

*Note: The current release of EasyMOD (version 0.3.0) doesn't support MODX. We plan on releasing a version which does support it sometime soon.

Can this be verified? I was thinking of maybe starting a new Automated MOD installer. But there is no point if EasyMOD is going to be released. I wish they would announce what their plans are.

It's hard to believe you since that post was made last year April 2006. Now it is passed a year already. Not just that, I believe the announcement Eric made is concerning easymod for phpBB2, not for phpBB3.

http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopi ... 3+mod+team

There is no confirmation that phpBB staff team will make easymod.

There was also talk that the MOD Team will be implementing an easymod like module for phpbb3. This was posted somewhere in area51, but I did enough searching. For those lazy people that were proved wrong, search this time... but in area51 ;)

wEric is supposed to rewrite easymod. But I do not have a good feeling about him. Maybe its just me, but I feel like he isn't around much. And if he isn't around much, how will he write an important mod tool for the phpBB community?

maybe he is not around much because he is on hidden?

Or maybe he is just not around because he is working so hard on EasyMOD
All MOD downloads should be back now - Sorry for that and serious lack of support! - If anyone wants to take over or help with any of my MODs the offer would be apreciated as I have little time for phpBB Modding recently!

Again very sorry for not supporting these MODs recently.

EasyMOD is a MOD Team project, not just wGEric's personal work.

There will be a program like EasyMOD for phpBB 3.0. We are currently working on it and it will be done when it is done. Most likely we will follow the same process as phpBB and do beta releases and RCs. I do not know when this will happen.

I haven't been around as much as I'd like recently but I'm still here. I check this site everyday. I may not post but I'm here. I am not the only one working on this project so don't think nothing is getting done.

I was preparing a new version of EasyMOD with MODX support for 2.0.x. I had the package mostly ready and decided to add more security related features to it. Life hit and this package was never released. I do plan on picking it up soon as life starts to settle down and I get back into my normal routine.

Thanks for being patient.

Three things.

First is why the heck didn't phpbb staff take a cue from you and integrate a tool for installing mods in this new phpBB3 in the first place?

Second, what the heck is MODX?

Third, when I converted the phpBB2 I had over to phpBB3 did the heavily modded files get imported too or just the SQL database, avatars, and smilies? Basically what I'm asking is what all got imported during the conversion?

All of those things can be found with search....

The vast majority don't install MODs, or if they do install very little ones. Therefore there is no point the development team wasting their time.

MODX has several documentations, search or just go to the MODs section

The convertor only converts the standard phpBB installation, and phpBB2 MODs are not compatable with phpBB3

Sorry, Eric, I did not want to be too critical on you. I just remember you stating about working on easymod in 2005. So it is just my curiosity to see how the project is going.

Glad that there is confirmation on things being worked with easymod. I am eager to see it released. And I that modders and others are as well. :)

Let's hope that there will be that easymod is fully integrated with the core of phpBB 3.2 or up.
