simple hit counter

Post by lepage71 »

I was wondering if someone could make a simple hit counter for phpbb3? The one I have for phpbb2 doesn't work on phpbb3.

This would be something that could go under the stats footer area and have an option for starting it at a certain number of hits. If this is just a matter of editing a number in a database, then that's the same thing.

Example of where it would go:

STATISTICS
Total hits 890192 • Total posts 9132 • Total topics 2664 • Total members 96 • Our newest member JamesKamal05

If anyone knows how to do this, that phpbb3 mod would be great.

My forum seems stuck on "1 hit" and it will not update to 2, 3, etc...do I have some setting wrong? I tried the instructions twice and I had the same problem twice.

Yes I did. It's getting late over here, but I will try the entire instructions again tomorrow. I think if it's still not working after my third try, there's probably something not quite right.

Folks:

I have read through another thread on the MOD simple hit counter and cannot find a solution.

I read that there is a field in the config table in the db. I looked and there is no such field, yet the counter increments.

Where is the counter number stored?

It's stored in phpbb_config.

As I already mentioned, I looked in the config table in the MySQL DB. There is no field to store the hit counter.

Yes, I saw that, but if your counter is incrementing as you said, then the field must exist. Are you saying that when you browse your phpbb_config table, there is no "hits" or "pageviews" field?

well, my phpbb_config is not called that. I use a different prefix for security reasons.

But, there is no field that exists in this table called "hits", "pageview", or anything else that is storing the page count in the MySql db
