spamwords

Post by noth »

Joe Belmaati wrote the phpBB2 mod spamwords which stops spammers posting links and other annoying keywords onto your forums

I can't find anything like that in the phpBB3 ACP so what is the nearest thing available for phpBB3 admins to use please?? ;)

You'd better stop bots from registering in the first place. The link in my signature might interest you.
No more spambots for phpBB2 and phpBB3.

spam is no longer just posted by bots. lowpaid workers in china are doing it. How do I stop these guys (human beings) logging into my forum and flooding it with spam and porn. Only Joe Belmaati's spamwords mod could do it. If there is such a mod for phpBB3 , we can upgrade. Otherwise we will stick with phpBB2.x.x.

If you know the words you want to stop you can use the 3.0.x built in censor feature: ACP > Posting > Messages > Word censoring.

If links are the problem then something like this mod, Disallow links before x posts, would probably help.

Alternatively, you could just use the built in (since 3.0.6) Newly Registered Users group functionality and require all posts by new users, before a defined limit, to have approval.

But does this prevent the post from getting posted if words that are censored are used in the post? I would like a feature similar to Joe Belmattis MOD which blocks the post and also notifies the admin and also sends a warning PM to the spam poster and bans him if he repeats the offence. Anything like that in phpBB 3.x ?

This got to [RC1] and I can't see if it went to the DB or not. That could work however there is another MOD which I prefer but I can't find the link too.

If I find it, I'll post it here. :)
