[Request] Archive or "Don't Purge" button

Post by callumw »

Hi
It would be great if there was a 'Keep' button that could be added to a top post topic so that when the purge schedule comes along, either the topic is moved to an archive area - or better yet that it leaves it there, but the purge skips it

Currently only Announcement or polls skip the purge, but it would be handy (esp. for a tech site) to retain selected information automatically and still purge off the tatt :geek:

Whaddya recon ?

Why do you need to prune data off of your board?

I'm an admin on a small/medium car forum
Get some useful tech info, but also a load of tripe posted

Simple as that really. 8-)

I see...

Well, you could move the good or bad stuff to a different forum, then prune it (though it could be a pain). I like the idea of having an option to make a topic set to never be pruned, but I don't ever use the prune option.

Hi
The idea is to minimise the manual overhead by having a simple switch to keep a thread.
We could have registered users (not just moderator/Admin) click on the top post if they think it's a good Tech thread so it will automatically stay.

Then an admin/mod will only need to go through the site every month or so and un-mark those uncorrectly tagged so they purge off that night.
