Feature Request: Better Updater

Okay, i just updated from 3.0.0 to 3.0.1

took loads of time, and loads of effort to update without losing any of my settings, mods and such.

i had to manually compare the newer version to the old version to add what was needed and skip what would remove my mod's.

wouldn't it be possible to make the installer only update the parts of the files where the change is required, and not the whole file ?

can a php file modify a php file ?

also, why can't the .patch files or the update file pakages be inside of the install folder ?

If you have any further questions about the automatic updater, feel free to ask in the support forum. But, since this is not a MOD Request, I need to close it.
