Changing forum background to a pattern?

Post by SquiD » Mon Aug 04, 2008 4:02 am

I have trouble finding the file to edit to change the background from default white to a pattern. I experimented with the colours.css and common.css, i do know who to code CSS though. I did it once but I forgot lol.

In colours.css, find:

Code: Select all

html, body {
	color: #536482;
	background-color: #FFFFFF;
}
Change to:

Code: Select all

html, body {
	color: #536482;
	background-color: #FFFFFF;
	background-image: url("http://www.yoursite.com/some_image.gif");
}
Then refresh your theme - ACP => Styles => Style Components => Themes.

If I do that the background is everywhere, see the picture:

But I would like it look like this (with white frame also):

Thanks!

In common.css, find:

Code: Select all

#wrap {
	padding: 0 20px;
	min-width: 650px;
}
Change to:

Code: Select all

#wrap {
	padding: 20px;
	min-width: 650px;
	background-color: #FFFFFF;
	border: 1px solid #BEBFC3;
}
Then refresh your theme.

didnt work, i refreshed the theme cache many times and purged the cache. I also tried taking out the background color. no dice.

Did you stylesheet.css file look like this :

Code: Select all

/*  phpBB 3.0 Style Sheet
    --------------------------------------------------------------
    Style name:        proSilver
    Based on style:    proSilver (this is the default phpBB 3 style)
    Original author:    subBlue ( http://www.subBlue.com/ )
    Modified by:

    Copyright 2006 phpBB Group ( http://www.phpbb.com/ )
    --------------------------------------------------------------
*/

@import url("common.css");
@import url("links.css");
@import url("content.css");
@import url("buttons.css");
@import url("cp.css");
@import url("forms.css");
@import url("tweaks.css");
@import url("colours.css");
?

No, I manually went in dreamweaver, and opened the colours.css file.

Please don't use dreamweaver , try notepad++ instead.
And could you please answer my question , about if the css is merged into the stylesheet.css or that is still use the includes of css files.

Dreamweaver can mess up the file, its better to use a other editor.
If you stylesheet.css file don't have the import files, you need to edit the stylesheet.css file instead of the colours.css :)

Did you change padding: 0 20px; to padding: 20px; as I instructed? ;)
