Edit and Quote Buttons Missing!?!?!

Post by pdee999 »

I'm using a modified ProSilver template for my forum and I must have deleted my edit and quote buttons by mistake. Can anyone please tell me how I can restore them without reinstalling the forum?

here what you need to do
prosilver/template/viewtopic_body.html

FIND

Code: Select all

<!-- BEGIN postrow -->
	<!-- IF postrow.S_FIRST_UNREAD --><a id="unread"></a><!-- ENDIF -->
	<div id="p{postrow.POST_ID}" class="post <!-- IF postrow.S_ROW_COUNT is odd -->bg1<!-- ELSE -->bg2<!-- ENDIF --><!-- IF postrow.S_UNREAD_POST --> unreadpost<!-- ENDIF --><!-- IF postrow.S_POST_REPORTED --> reported<!-- ENDIF --><!-- IF postrow.S_ONLINE --> online<!-- ENDIF -->">
		<div class="inner"><span class="corners-top"><span></span></span>

		<div class="postbody">
			<!-- IF postrow.S_IGNORE_POST -->
				<div class="ignore">{postrow.L_IGNORE_POST}</div>
			<!-- ELSE -->
The following is the complete set for those buttons (a couples)

Code: Select all

		<!-- IF not S_IS_BOT -->
			<!-- IF postrow.U_QUOTE or postrow.U_INFO or postrow.U_DELETE or postrow.U_EDIT -->
				<ul class="profile-icons">
					<!-- IF postrow.U_EDIT --><li class="edit-icon"><a href="{postrow.U_EDIT}" title="{L_EDIT_POST}"><span>{L_EDIT_POST}</span></a></li><!-- ENDIF -->
					<!-- IF postrow.U_DELETE --><li class="delete-icon"><a href="{postrow.U_DELETE}" title="{L_DELETE_POST}"><span>{L_DELETE_POST}</span></a></li><!-- ENDIF -->
					<!-- IF postrow.U_REPORT --><li class="report-icon"><a href="{postrow.U_REPORT}" title="{L_REPORT_POST}"><span>{L_REPORT_POST}</span></a></li><!-- ENDIF -->
					<!-- IF postrow.U_WARN --><li class="warn-icon"><a href="{postrow.U_WARN}" title="{L_WARN_USER}"><span>{L_WARN_USER}</span></a></li><!-- ENDIF -->
					<!-- IF postrow.U_INFO --><li class="info-icon"><a href="{postrow.U_INFO}" title="{L_INFORMATION}"><span>{L_INFORMATION}</span></a></li><!-- ENDIF -->
					<!-- IF postrow.U_QUOTE --><li class="quote-icon"><a href="{postrow.U_QUOTE}" title="{L_REPLY_WITH_QUOTE}"><span>{L_REPLY_WITH_QUOTE}</span></a></li><!-- ENDIF -->
				</ul>
			<!-- ENDIF -->
		<!-- ENDIF -->
The best solution is first look at the code of your file and compare to it
then you may, and should replace whatever you find with the above code
It's just a trial and error, very easy job!

you can do this by re-downloading the prosilver from the package and see search for keywords like "EDIT", "QUOTE"

afterward, when you are done, upload it back and refresh the template and clear the caches via ACP

i would suggest a very very simpler method.. just download that same template
the quote and edit images must be in this folder: 'styles/your style/imagesets/en/'
just upload these images in the same folder on your host.. thats it..
if you're still confused, lemme know..

Or have you switched to a different language which does not have them in its imageset folder.

I tried that and the buttons still won't show up. Actually I never modified any of the html pages only the style sheets. Which style sheet controls the button display? Maybe I made a change to the style sheet that I wasn't suppossed to. What's also wierd is the the delete, report and information buttons all show up in IE7 (only the edit and quote buttons are missing) however, in Firefox none of the buttons show up. Any other ideas?

This is the answer. I changed the language from British English to English (United States). When I switch back to British English the buttons appear. Thanks for the help. One more question though...how do I use these images with the different languages?

Copy them from style/templatename/imageset/en to your new language folder in there (presumably something like us-en/ or similar).

In the overall_header.html file look for

Code: Select all

<a href="{U_INDEX}" title="{L_INDEX}" id="logo">{SITE_LOGO_IMG}</a>
And change the {U_INDEX} bit

eg

Code: Select all

<a href="http://www.whatever.com" title="{L_INDEX}" id="logo">{SITE_LOGO_IMG}</a>

The easyest solution is to copy and paste all the images from: styles/prosilver/imageset/en (because that's where these few buttons are) to: styles/prosilver/imageset/xx

xx - stands for the shorter language folder name.

I tried different things for hours, than you guys gave me an idea with folder suggestions :D
