Post Text Question

Post by Dragonwolf » Mon Feb 22, 2010 3:33 pm

I have a prosilver based style called CA Black and was wondering if anyone could help me make a very small change to it. 8-) What want to do is make the post header look like it does in default Prosilver, with the name and date underneath the post title to stop them from merging into the post text, though I would really love to put a dividing line between the header and the post itself as well. Can anyone help? Here is how it looks now:

That was great! :D Had to make a few tiny modifications because of the style. I worked out that this edit:

Code: Select all

<p class="author"><!-- IF S_IS_BOT -->{postrow.MINI_POST_IMG}<!-- ELSE --><a href="{postrow.U_MINI_POST}">{postrow.MINI_POST_IMG}</a><!-- ENDIF --> {postrow.POST_DATE} <!-- IF postrow.POST_AUTHOR_FULL --><span id="author{postrow.S_ROW_COUNT}" style="display: none;">{L_POST_BY_AUTHOR} {postrow.POST_AUTHOR_FULL}</span><!-- ENDIF --></p>
Was this code in the file:

Code: Select all

<div class="postsubject"><!-- IF S_IS_BOT -->{postrow.MINI_POST_IMG}<!-- ELSE --><a href="{postrow.U_MINI_POST}"><!-- IF postrow.POST_ICON_IMG --><img src="{T_ICONS_PATH}{postrow.POST_ICON_IMG}" width="{postrow.POST_ICON_IMG_WIDTH}" height="{postrow.POST_ICON_IMG_HEIGHT}" alt="" /><!-- ELSE -->{postrow.MINI_POST_IMG}<!-- ENDIF --></a><!-- ENDIF -->&nbsp;{postrow.POST_SUBJECT}</div>
To get my post dates back, I tried changing:

Code: Select all

<!-- ELSE -->
				{postrow.POST_AUTHOR_FULL}
			<!-- ENDIF -->
to

Code: Select all

<!-- ELSE -->
				{postrow.POST_AUTHOR_FULL} {postrow.POST_DATE}
			<!-- ENDIF -->
But it didn't work, is there something I'm missing? The theme/content edit worked well once I changed the margin-top: 37px; to ten pixels, but when I put a line above it it using border-top: 1px solid #CCCCCC; the line appeared bellow the margin in the post. Is there a way to fix this? Also it was bright white, even though I copied the line from the .css for the signature box. Currently the code in themes\content looks like this:

Code: Select all

/* Content container styles
----------------------------------------*/
.content {
	border-top: 1px solid #CCCCCC;
    min-height: 3em;
    margin-top: 10px;
    overflow: hidden;
    line-height: 1.4em;
    font-family: "Lucida Grande", "Trebuchet MS", Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;
    font-size: 1em;
    color: #333333;
}
Is there any way to make it identical to the line in the signature, which is a thin translucent grey?

Ok, I'm really confused at the moment, I just tried to reinstall this mod, but I can't find Content.css in themes. In fact, all I can find is four files, including styles. All my copies of this theme are the same, except for my clean backup version (not uploaded). What has happened?

I am not sure what you are telling exactly. What do you mean with your "Clean backup version (not uploaded)"?
Which 4 files do you see? Is styles a file?

For content.css you should look in /styles/ca_black/theme/. The current 3.0.10 download of that style has 16 files in that folder (including content.css) and a subfolder images.

What I mean is that there are only four files in the /themes/ folder, and Content.css isn't one of them. :/

I have just realised what was wrong with the theme while trying to install a different mod. It's not CA_Black, it's Hermes that got named 'black'. 8-) I am such an idiot, this is why it's not working. Hermes is Subsilver2 and CA_Black is Prosilver based. :lol: I'll have to PM you the URL.

So, do you still need changes to the style, since the original post you started this topic with is not valid anymore, because the style is completely different.

What exactly is your question now?

0k, what I would like to do is re-add the date the post was made just bellow the title of the post, put a dividing line between it and the post text, push the post text down a bit and make the font slightly larger. :mrgreen:

So, basically, it would look like this post, but with a line between the date and what I have written, and with what I have written nudged down slightly and in a larger font.

0k, I managed to resize the posting font on my own just by reading through the stylesheet.css, but I have no idea how to put the date back in or to add the line. I think I'm defiantly in the right part of the css to move the text down a bit though, if I knew how.... :?

Can anyone help? I'd be happy if I could just put a line in or move the post text down slightly. :mrgreen:
