Change your page colour!

Post by k1nd3r » Sun May 09, 2010 2:26 pm

Greetings all!

Well, I'm new here and I am a fan of phpbb really.... sigh. Excuse me, I'm not good at sweet talk so excuse my sweetless hehe.

Directly, I want to talk about a feature I've seen in vBulletin but unfortunately I don't find it here. I just want to inquire whether if we could have this feature in future or I'm saying nonsense.

The feature gives all members the ability to change the forum's color with 3-4 colors... multi-coloring the forums. It rocks and so cool. It helps on not to be feeling bored of having one color. So yeah, it also helps not to be asked by users whether will you boring ADMIN change the theme or we would leave your boring forum? :? Moreover some forums have a really good theme but the color is usual which makes it bores others.

Alive example;
color your page.png
color your page.png (96.12 KiB) Viewed 1206 times
color your page1.png
color your page1.png (94.88 KiB) Viewed 1206 times
color your page2.png
color your page2.png (95.71 KiB) Viewed 1206 times
color your page3.png
color your page3.png (93.71 KiB) Viewed 1206 times
Hopefully I'll get an answer soon.

Regards,
Eslam

It depends on the style.

1. Option: use a javascript based style with color change

2. Option: use a style with color variants in the same style folder
Multilanguage TimeSplitters Site

If you need support, I suggest you to use the Support Request Template for your questions on this board. If you have some serious problems, the Support Toolkit can fix it (depends on the problem).

I am aware that also style changing depends on JavaScript library under jquery

How it works on vBulletin;
You must create multiple css files
Example;

Code: Select all

<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="css/theme_blue.css" title="blue" media="screen" />
<link rel="alternate stylesheet" type="text/css" href="css/theme_blue.css" title="green" media="screen" />
<link rel="alternate stylesheet" type="text/css" href="css/theme_blue.css" title="red" media="screen" />
Note the title of each file css and note the REL default Style be as below

HTML Code:

Code: Select all

rel="stylesheet"
The rest is
HTML Code:

Code: Select all

rel="alternate stylesheet"
Change colors icons as below;

HTML Code:

Code: Select all

<img rel="blue" class="styleswitch" alt="" src="images/icon/blue.png" />
<img rel="green" class="styleswitch" alt="" src="images/icon/green.png" />
<img rel="red" class="styleswitch" alt="" src="images/icon/red.png" />
Download: http://uploadfile.org/download.php?id=t ... rjEuYk0JZc

So my question is, would it work in here: http://www.mig33fans.com/index.php :?:

Thanks
Eslam

No, because you can't use title="something" in your own stylesheet links. phpBB uses that element in the font-size changer - consequently any stylesheet links with your own title="something" will simply be ignored.

There is a different method I've coded, although I don't plan on releasing the code as I'm using it in one of my upcoming styles. Also support isn't given to those who remove the phpBB copyright.

You have removed the phpBB copyright message and link from your footer. As per Rule 4J and the comment in the overall_footer.html file, support will not be given on this site to those who remove the line crediting phpBB.

If the full copyright (as appears in the footer here) cannot be displayed, users are requested to at least display the "Powered by phpBB" line with "phpBB" linking to phpBB.com. An equivalent message, such as "Discussion board software by phpBB", is also acceptable. Users may also replace the text with an image, as long as the link to phpBB.com is maintained.

When you have replaced the line, please contact the Team Member who locked your topic so that it can be unlocked. If that person is unavailable, you may contact any Support Team Member. Please do not start additional topics, as they will also be locked.
