Caching of JS files

Does phpbb handle the caching of JS files well by simply adding ?assets_version={T_ASSETS_VERSION} to the end of the script.js file when you reference it in the template?

Or should I use an other caching solution that handles the caching of JS script files that I add on my own?

phpBB doesn't and can't do anything about that. It only links to files. Files are served by web server without phpBB.

So it means I should come up with a caching solution of my own? I know of a jquery plugin that does this.
