Simple proSilver Stylesheet ?

Post by Carlton2001 » Tue May 29, 2007 7:37 pm

Hi,

I'm working on my own theme and I'm loosing myself between redundant css properties in each css files (ie common.css and colours.css).
Is anyone (or someone in the Template Team) made a simple stylesheet.css who merge all the classes or ids properties in one file ? (I don't talk about the stylesheet.css made after an ACP's filesystem operation)
If not, do you know a software who could do this for me ?

If the system is really better when you have classes in multiple files can you explain me why ? (I'd like to change all the look of the board and not only colors)

ps: scuse my english, froggy speaking !

Colors are defined in colours.css, other properties in the other CSS files. Just ignore the colors in files other than colours.css, they don't need to be changed. If you want to edit colors, do it in colours.css, else do it elsewhere.

But why are colours defined in other files than colours.css if they don't have to be changed and colours.css all does the colouring?

The only reason really is that we like the effect if you take colours.css away or rename it. It becomes a monchrome version of prosilver. There is nothing more to it. When wired.com got its redesign back in 2002/2003 (not sure) they did a similar thing.

OK so if I understood well what you just said dhn, I just rename colour.css and I start my theme from scratch ?
The only problem I found is buttons that are gone but I can fix it easy.

Thanks for the answer.

(And Is there a software anywhere who can merge 2 css files ?)

I have a merged stylesheet now... I was wanting to see how easy it was to do it.

Of course, there are still 8 different files though:

Stylesheet (still needed to keep the main and tweaks seperate)
Large, Meduim and Normal (font size changes) - these I did not alter
Print, Bidi, and tweaks (really do not need to be messed with anyway) - these I did not alter
And I formed the one large on into a stylesheet I called main.

As far as I studied it, I haven't found any errors in it, though I could have missed over something...

Just take out all the imports from your "stylesheet", (except for "tweaks.css") and add in the "main.css"

But I do have to warn you, the file is pretty long now.

Merged files:

buttons.css
colors.css
content.css
common.css
cp.css
links.css
forms.css
