Rank Title Question

Post by statm » Sun Aug 12, 2007 10:12 pm

Is there an IF statement or another way doesnt matter.. To hide special rank titles from admin/mod accounts for example on viewtopic? Ive found a way to hide the special rank titles from admin and mods but not everyone else.

I have rank titles on regular ranks that need to be seen. But, on Adm and Mod special ranks they are pictures and its alittle redundant to have a title and a special rank img saying the same thing.

I would appreciate any solution.. Thanks.

If it is in there twice, why dont you just take out the admin Rank picture and let them show just their title?

Which do you think would look better having just text saying Administrator or a styled gif that looks a whole lot better saying Administrator? And it wont let you just have a rank img it balks at you if you delete the rank title.

Ah. You just want to remove the text and use the picture.

You might be best off using pictures that include a caption for the other ranks too, then you could remove the rank-text from the template or script.

That would work if the regular rank images didnt grow with your post count. So a newbie has alittle wedge and text would never fit.

Thanks anyway.

That is easy to fix. Use a transparent GIF file for your images. Then the little rank image could have a large transparent section to fit the text.

Short of making it a mod. There isnt a way of doing this strictly in the template. Unfortunately.

If you want to remove the rank title which you'll need to delete a line in the viewtopic_body.tpl in your template folder.

Open your forumfolder/templates/templatename/viewtopic_body.tpl file and go find the code: {postrow.POSTER_RANK}

delete it, and it should be fixed. It worked for me atleast.

That would get rid of rank title all together. I never wanted to do that. I wanted it to show the rank titles of only non-staff. Meaning no one with a special rank.

Look for :

Code: Select all

'RANK_TITLE'		=> $user_cache[$poster_id]['rank_title']
in viewtopic.php

In the line add a check for the user rank if it Admin or Mod send null to the string else send the $user_cache string.
(phpBB 2.0.x): []Admin Topics List[] MOD. << Description & Download. , []Highlight Author[] MOD.
