Ok I got the side bar on the side where it belongs, but now it is floating much higher than the other boxes. How can i adjust the height. I hacked around a bit but cant figure it out.

I'm having the same problem as antoscarface - how do I get the sidebar to line up with the forum or post list? I've set it up on the right, following the instructions found here (matches the first post in this thread), and it is currently pushing everything below my header to the left...

I'm using phpbb3 v. 3.0.9, and the "proFormell" theme.

The first image below is what is happening now - the second image is what I need...

Thanks.

I want that the sidebar is in the same level of the forumlist (or post list, depends of the page)... how this (modify the last image on paint)

How can I do this?

Hi everybody... I have a unique question...

¿How I can collapse que sidebar? Hide/Show, I saw that can use the forum cookies to do that, but I've searching everywhere without success!

Thanks for help

Hi,

I create table prosilver based, between two forum categories for adding banner in it. How to center image or images in it?

Well I know, it is a long lost thread.

I finally made a right sidebar on the index page only. I dont mind that the index body is only 85% and to the left, but is there a way to make all of the forum body's 100% and back in center?

I hope no one minds me bumping this mammoth :D

I want to add a sidebar (HTML all are done) to the right of my forum index inside the board (not the white places, but inside the index). Where should I add the codes to? I am using prosilver BTW

here is one way to do it:

Side Bars Under the Header for prosilver based styles

BOTH SIDES

Open overall_header.html
find:

Code: Select all

<div id="page-body">
		<!-- IF S_BOARD_DISABLED and S_USER_LOGGED_IN and (U_MCP or U_ACP) -->
		<div id="information" class="rules">
			<div class="inner"><span class="corners-top"><span></span></span>
				<strong>{L_INFORMATION}:</strong> {L_BOARD_DISABLED}
			<span class="corners-bottom"><span></span></span></div>
		</div>
		<!-- ENDIF -->
after, add:( this will be added to the very bottom of the page )

Code: Select all

<table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="10" cellpadding="0">
           <tr>
           <td width="145" align="left" valign="top" class="bodyline">
              <table width="145" border="0" cellpadding="10" cellspacing="0">
                       <tr>
                       <td>>Left column in here..</td>
                        </tr>
                      </table>
           </td>
                <td align="left">

open overall_footer.html
find:

Code: Select all

<div id="page-footer">
before, add:

Code: Select all

</td>
       <td width="145" align="right" valign="top" class="bodyline">
          <table width="145" border="0" cellpadding="10" cellspacing="0">
                   <tr>
                     <td>>Right column in here..

</td>
                   </tr>
                 </table>
       </td>
       </tr>
    </table>

LEFT SIDE

Open overall_header.html
find:

Code: Select all

<div id="page-body">
		<!-- IF S_BOARD_DISABLED and S_USER_LOGGED_IN and (U_MCP or U_ACP) -->
		<div id="information" class="rules">

				<strong>{L_INFORMATION}:</strong> {L_BOARD_DISABLED}
			<span class="corners-bottom"><span></span></span></div>
		</div>
		<!-- ENDIF -->
after, add:( this will be added to the very bottom of the page )

Code: Select all

<table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="10" cellpadding="0">
           <tr>
           <td width="145" align="left" valign="top" class="bodyline">
              <table width="145" border="0" cellpadding="10" cellspacing="0">
                       <tr>
                       <td>>Left column in here..</td>
                        </tr>
                      </table>
           </td>
                <td align="left">

open overall_footer.html
find:

Code: Select all

<div id="page-footer">
before, add:

Code: Select all

</td>

       </tr>
    </table>

RIGHT SIDE

Open overall_header.html
find:( this will be added to the very bottom of the page )

Code: Select all

<div id="page-body">
		<!-- IF S_BOARD_DISABLED and S_USER_LOGGED_IN and (U_MCP or U_ACP) -->
		<div id="information" class="rules">
			<div class="inner"><span class="corners-top"><span></span></span>
				<strong>{L_INFORMATION}:</strong> {L_BOARD_DISABLED}
			<span class="corners-bottom"><span></span></span></div>
		</div>
		<!-- ENDIF -->
after, add:

Code: Select all

    <table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="10" cellpadding="0">
           <tr>
                      <td align="left">
open overall_footer.html
find:

Code: Select all

<div id="page-footer">
before, add:

Code: Select all

</td>
       <td width="145" align="right" valign="top" class="bodyline">
          <table width="145" border="0" cellpadding="10" cellspacing="0">

                   </tr>
                 </table>
       </td>

I am placing some buttons and fixed sized graphics into the sidebar. How do I lock the sidebar from not scaling below a certain size and forcing the graphics/buttons partially outside the sidebar?

make your sidebars a fixed width of whatever size you need them to be.

in the post right above yours, I showed to do them 145 pixels wide.

Thanks Lumpy. Was hoping there would be a method without using tables.

why?

I have found that most of the methods using only css have many problems and I keep going back to the simple table method to get everything to work properly.

Finally did the table method. Thanks Lumpy.

Okay now a curve ball. In one of my sub forums I dont want the sidebar to display. Is there a way to omit the sidebar for a single forum?

haven't tested this but it should work.

surround your side bar table code with this:

Code: Select all

    <!-- IF S_FORUM_ID neq ? -->your sidebar table code<!-- ENDIF -->
change the ? to whatever the fourm ID is.
hover over the link to that forum and you will see the ID at the end of the link.

for instance, this forum link is:
viewforum.php?f=74

f=74

74 is the forum ID.
