[quote="Matthew69"]ADDS A SIDEBAR TO THE RIGHT ONLY

I think you would add this code to the overall_header.html instead of the other code...

Code: Select all

<table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="10" cellpadding="0">
       <tr>
                  <td align="left">
Where would i add this within the overal_header

and in the overall_footer.html you would put this

Code: Select all

</td>
       <td width="200" align="right" valign="top" class="bodyline">
          <table width="200" border="0" cellpadding="10" cellspacing="0" bgcolor="#CC0099">
                   <tr>
                     <td><font color="#FFFFFF" size="1" face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Right column in here..</font></td>
                   </tr>
                 </table>
       </td>
       </tr>
    </table>
Where would i put this too?

If anybody is interested to know how I added the sidebar I'm using, which is slightly different from the ones mentioned here. Let me know and I'll post the code. My site uses a fixed width, so you can easily add banners without worrying about the sidebar shrinking

Check my site to see it in action here: http://www.white-worms.com/forum/index.php

Also hover your mouse over the sidebars

If I got nothing out of this, the "purge the cache" was worth reading it... But damn what a hard lesson! :D

Okay, here is my question: Under the overall_sidebar.html version of this modification, is it possible to pick up a sidebar from another location? I have a sidebar on my main domain page that I'd like to be read into this site (making the board look more like a part of the original site).

Thanks!

Any thoughts on this? I have another sidebar, not in the template folder that I'd like to show based on this modification. I'm pretty sure its just a simple thing. Thanks!

I'm creating a forum but none of the solutions I've found so far seem to work. I want to put ads (whether google ads or banners) on each side of my forum so that they appear on every page. The problem is that my forum has sidebars already with nothing in them, just like on this page (in the gray area). So when I ad the code mentioned above on both sides, my forum gets pushed over to the right side rather than the left ad going in the empty gray space. If anyone knows how to do this I would greatly appreciate it.

Here is my site in progress: http://www.phozzic.com
There's not much content yet as I'm trying to deal with the ad situation right now and I have not "officially" launched.

Open overall_header.html

search:

Code: Select all

<a name="top"></a>
after add:

Code: Select all

<table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="10" cellpadding="0">
       <tr>
                  <td valign="top">
				  Here the content :D
open overall_footer.html

search:

Code: Select all

<td class="rightshadow" width="9" valign="top"><img src="{T_THEME_PATH}/images/spacer.gif" alt="" width="9" height="1" /></td>
	</tr>
</table>
after add:

Code: Select all

</td>
</tr></table>
edit

Code: Select all

Here the content :D
with your code.

after that refresh your template ( acp -> styles -> templates -> refresh ) .

with "here the content" , you can edit the code to what you want
Let say , you want ads , replace here the content with your ads code.
And yes, for the left side , for a right side you need to follow this changes ; http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopi ... 5#p3458095 .

OK... I have tried and tried to get this lined up correctly... But I am at a loss... Can anyone point me in the right direction to get the Sidebar lined up on the right of my forum..??

I used the directions on page one in the quotes... But the sidebar drops below everything else...

Here is my site:
http://www.islandersonly.com/phpbb

Also, I have been editing the Common.css file itself, not through the ACP... Not sure if that matters or not...

Thanks in advance...

Do you want it to be on the place outside you board on the big withe places , or inside your board , keep in mind that your board will be very small then.

I actually wanted it outside my board... So I'll have my set 760px board size and then the Ads outside of that...

Thanks for your help...
