Re: [How To] Modify prosilver's header

Post by morf13 »

Hi,I hope somebody can help. I am trying to set up my new forum. I need to add a custom photo to the header of the main page. I succeededin making the phpbb logo vanish,but cant figure how to add my photo.

In the above directions for adding a photo,the instructions stated:

"First of all, upload your image to the styles/prosilver/theme/images/ directory"

I dont understand this. How do I upload it? I looked around and cant find a spot to upload or select a photo. Can somebody advise please? Am I not looking in the right spot?

Use FTP to upload - a good FTP client is Filezilla

@morf13
When editing your style, I would recommend the following:

*Download a good text editing program - Such as Notepad++*
  • Log in to your server using your FTP-client. Find and download the file you need to edit.
  • Save a backup, make the changes you're going to do, and then save your file.
  • Re-upload the file to your server, and then head into your forum.
  • Log in to the ACP and head to ACP >> Styles > Choose Templates/Themes/Imagesets for your style and click Refresh!
  • When you're done, you will have cleared the cache and will be able to see the changes you've done the next time you go to the board and hit F5.
As Jessica said - Use an FTP client and head into your phpBB folder.
The FTP information can be provided by your host.

currently you have this:

Code: Select all

<div id="wrap">
	<a id="top" name="top" accesskey="t"></a>
	<div id="page-header">
		<div class="headerbar">
			<div class="inner"><span class="corners-top"><span></span></span>
    <div style="height: 90px;">

<a href="{U_INDEX}" title="{L_INDEX}" id="header-link">Index</a>
			<div id="site-description">
				<h1>{SITENAME}</h1>
				<p>{SITE_DESCRIPTION}</p>
				<p class="skiplink"><a href="#start_here">{L_SKIP}</a></p>
			</div>
it should be this:

Code: Select all

<div id="wrap">
	<a id="top" name="top" accesskey="t"></a>
	<div id="page-header">
		<div class="headerbar">
			<div class="inner"><span class="corners-top"><span></span></span>
    <div style="height: 90px;">

			<div id="site-description">
<a href="{U_INDEX}" title="{L_INDEX}" id="header-link">Index</a>
				<h1>{SITENAME}</h1>
				<p>{SITE_DESCRIPTION}</p>
				<p class="skiplink"><a href="#start_here">{L_SKIP}</a></p>
			</div>
you put that line in the wrong place. the instructions said to add it after the site description line, not before it.

see if that helps.

no, you can't do it in the admin panel editor.

download the file to your computer. edit the file and upload back. then go to the admin panel, styles tab.

click on template, click on refresh for prosilver.

then refresh your browser.

To make this work you need to remove site name and description.

Hello Mongbean!

The banner does not repeat it self for me.

Did you clear your browsers cache?
