How to change some simple text?[RESOLVED]

Post by K2-Kelly »

Hi All;

At the bottom of the page there are names for the user "types" in prosilver. The ones I mean are "Administrator, Global Moderators, Registered Users" and so on.....I'd like to change those names/titles to something different. Where would I do this?

In kind where it says "the Team" and if clicked lists out moderators and administrators, I'd like to change that title as well, where would I do this?

Thanks,

K2

Here in language/en/common.php:

Code: Select all

	'THE_TEAM'	=> 'The team',
Change only the part after the arrow.

Normally, you would change your group names in Manage Groups, but the special installed Groups are also named in that same language file:

Code: Select all

	'G_ADMINISTRATORS'	=> 'Administrators',
	'G_BOTS'	=> 'Bots',
	'G_GUESTS'	=> 'Guests',
	'G_REGISTERED'	=> 'Registered Users',
	'G_REGISTERED_COPPA'	=> 'Registered COPPA users',
	'G_GLOBAL_MODERATORS'	=> 'Global Moderators',
This file need s be saved with UTF-8(w/o BOM) encoding, so you will need a good text editor, such as Notepad++ to edit it.

Hmmmm...oddly, I received an error though am not sure why. What I'm trying to add is some Japanese kanji seperated by an "*" astrik. Do you think it is the kanji, the astrik, or that I used "notepad" (windows supplied yet saved in UTF-8) instead of Notepad++?..........It did alter the text, yet after a string of error messages I then saw the background, and below it the forum without a background.

Thanks for your help,

Windows Notepad can only save it as UTF-8(w/BOM).
As I said, you will need an editor that is capable of saving in UTF-8(w/o BOM)

HOLY SMOKES!

I've not had time to do this yet upon installing the basic notepad++ just opened up the common.php and WOW....It lays out the file like the editor in CP....MUCH easier to work with the file then in notepad where it is all crammed together...........This will be awesome to work with.

Thanks so VERY much for the tip!
