Ha...I thought it was going to be similiar to that as well.
View and list everyone's favorite topics.

Guess I'll have to follow the instructions backwards.. :o

Nice job though.

Is anyone willing to rework this feature so that it's a menu item with the results appearing on its own page? I love this mod but the bottom of the Profile isn't a good place for it. Unfortunately it's way beyond my beginner php skills. Thanks!

Good MOD and easy to install!

Like some of you have already said this would be better on a seperate page where it can be more easily found

Andy :)

very nice MOD indeed.
Maybe anyone knows how to 'upgrade' this MOD to watch a complete Forum?
I like a list in the profile of all Forums where people can turn on/off Forum watching per forum.

Is there an example site to see this mod?

no example as the output is attached to a user's profile, not the public profile but the page they see when they edit their profile.

if i get a chance i'll add it to my dev forum and create a test user for you to see.

on a side note, this is now also incorporated in my forum user notification mod which is currently in development / testing in the beta dev forum. with this mod it is seperate from the profile.

I found this Mod to be very easy indeed, and had I not made one single stupid error, it would have taken me about 1.5 minutes.

I agree up to a point that perhaps it would be more usefull on another page, however, some users may not choose to use this function, and as such I would hate to add a link that is available to everyone, but only used by some. This statement probably displays my lack of knowledge about php and the phpBB, but oh well,

Thanks Netclectic!

For someone who had NO knowledge of how to add a MOD much less what one was (a week ago) :? 8O , it was very, very easy Netclectic. Thanks for the brilliant idea. 8)

It takes me awhile cause I want to make sure it is RIGHT the first time. I don't want to have to go alllll the way back and recheck. :x So the time things is never paid attention to in my developing.

I also want to chime in on the 'seperate page' issue. Would be much better there b/c it makes the profile page long for someone who's watching loads. Not that I really care caue I don't watch many but just a added thought. 8)

To Silvertongue, the only thing about this MOD you add was it made 'my' profile page total left now instead of centered when I am 'not watching' a topic? Is this normal? 'You are not watching any topics' is now to the far right out of sync with the border of the profile page itself. :?

No matter really, just that I noticed.

*leaves wondering how on earth the phpBB copyright is now at the top of the profile page :?: :!: :?: *

Anyhow, thanks for reading!! :)

I ended up having to remove this mod. I think this is an example of a mod that works great if you don't have many users or posts. But what if you have users that have posted thousands of messages and have "notify on reply" defaulted to ON? People like this could be watch a huge number of topics -- and they'd all have to be listed under the person's Profile.

The bottom line is that my most prolific user apparently hit the limit (he has over 3000 posts). He was getting this error:

1. Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 48 bytes) in /home/httpd/vhosts/wwe-club.com/httpdocs/phpBB2/includes/functions.php on line 322"

After I removed the mod, the problem was gone.

I am also concerned as beggers is. We have one poster with more than 7000 posts. What I have done is add a LIMIT to the .tpl that came with the mod to only return the first hundred it finds, i.e. the 100 most recent. I plan to show a message indicating that only the most recent 100 were returned.

Is there any reason why this would NOT be a good idea (not a php/mysql developer)

Here is the minor change:

Code: Select all

-------------open mods/netclectic/watched_topics_list/watched_topics_list.php -------

------------Find-----------------
ORDER BY t.topic_last_post_id DESC";

------------Change to ----------------------------
ORDER BY t.topic_last_post_id DESC LIMIT 100";

Thanks for an excellent mod! I really need this as I have someone who subscribes to endless threads but currently has an invalid email address, so they are bouncing all day to my address.

Thanks to Silvertongue for an excellent improvement on the mod. I had the same formatting issues as another poster had. Here is what I changed to make it work. It keeps the look and feel going.

Don't get me wrong, I really like this concept but I think it needs to be on it's own page and have the ability to deal with larger numbers of watched topics.

PLEASE! Someone can help US to put the Watched Posts table in a Blank Page and not in the profile page??????? PLEASEEEEEE!

And if it's possible, it would be grate to split the number of watched posts shown in 50... or something like that

Thanks!!!!
