MOD Validated/Released

Personal Notes:
This is an amazing little script here! It's so freaking useful you'll probably wonder how you've ever lived without it! Heck, you might even start running a CRON job on it!

Thanks R45!

It sounds like a good mod, but how do post counts become...un...synced?

When pruning forums the post count isn't adjusted.

Do you have a screenshot of the page?
Already have a resyncing page, so I wonder if it's worth to install this new one...

This resyncs user's post counts. So if you prune, then run this, the post count goes down. I can't think of any other applications, unless the database got corrupted or something.

well, in my Administration Panel, in the navigation frameset, the title "" remains in english... but no word in english in my language.
Perhaps a bug to fix :) but it doesn't matter, it's only for the admin, me, and i understand english! lol :P

for people who prune their forums, i advise you guys not to use this mod.

members may get irritated when their post counts drop.

cheers.

I can see where decreasing post-counts could be a matter of some consequence, where post counts count towards points/cash/goals, etc. This mod is still a very useful tool though. I disagree with recommending that admins not use it just because their forum's members may get upset over a decrease in their post-count. That's an issue that the admin can deal with by warning members in advance of impending forum maintenence.

If an admin's forum has a database approaching extreme size (according to the hosting service the forum is located on), pruning is the best way to keep that size under control. Pruning without re-synching post counts leads to some (non-serious) errors in post counts that have proven to be more of a headache to me than a simple whine from a member about his/her post count.

You mean that the user post count dosent change when you delete a post or the overall post count dosent change, or both ?

When you delete a post with the little X button from the main forum area, the post count does decrease correctly.

As mentioned, only if you DELETE a post by somehow using the delete button or some other delete techniques on your board.

But if you PRUNE users via the Admin Control Panel, then that in phpbb world is not the same thing as deleting. Even if the actual posts "pruned" are actually deleted, but pruning does not affect the user's post count, whereas the deleting does.

So if you delete posts, the user's post count will go down subsequently. But if you instead prune posts and delete them that way, the actual user's post count will not drop.

So this mod is used when you want to prune large number of posts at once instead of deleting one indivitual post at a time, and you'd STILL like to see the post count drop accordingly to its real value for every user.

Hope that explains stuff for you!
:D

is it possibe to have forums that are excluded from the resync ???

an example ...

if there were 3 forums ... and the user had 10 posts in each ... they would have a total of 30 posts ...

if you set it to exclude the third forum from the resync ... then they would have a total of 20 posts ...

is this possible ??? ... it would be usefull for with the "Disable Post Count Increase" mod because at the moment i just have run the resync and it has given all my members their posts from a board that has the count disabled :!:

Yes, you can do that by only selecting those two forums to resync the post count by. To do this, use the advanced mode, example here - http://phpbb.rasadam.com/demo.php?id=2&mode=advanced
