[2.0.6] Author Hyperlink

Post by Extensions Robot »

MOD Name: Author Hyperlink
Author: tosspot
MOD Description: By default the author name in a message is not a hyperlink. This mod makes it a URL to the poster's profile. This might be more intuitive for some users compared to the profile button.

MOD Version: 1.0.1

Some extra goodies for this mod

This is a re-release of an older mod. If you are interested in some customisations like changing colour and style you can see my previous notes on this here:

I do like this, thank you. :D

Although I did modify it slightly, to include a title attribute displaying the same tooltip as the Profile button in the post.

Code: Select all

#
#-----[ REPLACE WITH ]------------------------------------------
#
	$poster = ( $poster_id != ANONYMOUS ) ? '<a href="' . append_sid("profile.$phpEx?mode=viewprofile&" . POST_USERS_URL . '=' . $poster_id) . '" class="genmed" title="' . $lang['Read_profile'] . '">' : '';
	$poster .= ( $poster_id != ANONYMOUS ) ? $postrow[$i]['username'] : ( ( $postrow[$i]['post_username'] != '' ) ? $postrow[$i]['post_username'] : $lang['Guest'] );
	$poster .= ( $poster_id != ANONYMOUS ) ? '</a>' : '';
#
Silvertrace,
If you use a CSS file and remove the forced styles from the main config files, it will show whatever colour you set for links in the CSS.

Does this mod work with Profile Control panel mod?

I know I had it working before I installed PCP.. and now it doesn't work. I can't see why.

Is there something I can fix or is it PCP I need to go into and edit?

Thanks all!

Okay just so you know, this isn't compatible with this mod.

(it's a mod to make it so show posts is a hyperlink)

I posted how I solved the problem at the bottom. I changed this mod so it created a new username variable.

Heres the code I added instead.... did not replace the $poster line. The first chunk of code I added AFTER the line the original mod wanted me to replace.
$poster2 = ( $poster_id != ANONYMOUS ) ? '<a href="' . append_sid("profile.$phpEx?mode=viewprofile&" . POST_USERS_URL . '=' . $poster_id) . '" class="genmed">' : '';
$poster2 .= ( $poster_id != ANONYMOUS ) ? $postrow[$i]['username'] : ( ( $postrow[$i]['post_username'] != '' ) ? $postrow[$i]['post_username'] : $lang['Guest'] );
$poster2 .= ( $poster_id != ANONYMOUS ) ? '</a>' : '';

Then after 'POSTER_NAME' => $poster, I added:
'POSTER_NAME2' => $poster2,

Then I went into templates/subsilver/viewtopicbody.tpl and replaced
{postrow.POSTER_NAME}

with
{postrow.POSTER_NAME2}

This is just how I did it. I don't recommend to do it this way unless you are having the same problem I had.
