Will this mod be made EasyMOD compliant? I ask because I added it to my test board (luckily) using EasyMOD and it seemed to have worked, but then not posts show in the topic view. The culprit (along with the next one)?

Code: Select all

#-----[ OPEN ]------------------------------------------
#
templates/subSilver/viewtopic_body.tpl
#
#-----[ FIND ]------------------------------------------
#
{postrow.POSTER_AVATAR}
#
#-----[ REPLACE WITH ]------------------------------------------
#
<!-- BEGIN switch_showavatars -->{postrow.POSTER_AVATAR}<!-- END switch_showavatars -->
The whole line got clobbered rather than just the find text.

I hope you can help me, thanks in advance :)

This error message occurs after setting either avatars or signatures to 'yes' in profil:

edit: Hm maybe the pic was too big, isn't showing up anymore, i'll write the error down then.

Simple answer, you never added the fields to the database. You still need to execute the ALTER commands.

Code: Select all

#
#-----[ SQL ]------------------------------------------
#
ALTER TABLE phpbb_users ADD COLUMN user_showavatars tinyint(1) default '1';
ALTER TABLE phpbb_users ADD COLUMN user_showsignatures tinyint(1) default '1';

Color me stupid, I've read all the previous posts and tried it all. I am a total SQL newbie. How do it run the sql lines?

Code: Select all

ALTER TABLE phpbb_users ADD COLUMN user_showavatars tinyint(1) default '1';
ALTER TABLE phpbb_users ADD COLUMN user_showsignatures tinyint(1) default '1';

do you have phpMyAdmin?

if so, click on your database name
then click on the link on top labeled 'sql'
then in the box, copy and pase the ALTER TABLE lines
then click "Go"

if you dont have phpMyAdmin
create a php page, titled change.php
have it look like this

Code: Select all

<?php

define('IN_PHPBB', true);
$phpbb_root_path = './';
include($phpbb_root_path . 'extension.inc');
include($phpbb_root_path . 'common.'.$phpEx);

mysql_query("ALTER TABLE phpbb_users ADD COLUMN user_showavatars tinyint(1) default '1'") or die(mysql_error());

mysql_query("ALTER TABLE phpbb_users ADD COLUMN user_showsignatures tinyint(1) default '1'") or die(mysql_error());

echo "Changes successful. <br /><br /><font color=blue>Kender is a God</font>";
exit;

?>
then upload the file to your forum directory and go to that url

that SHOULD do it

It installed great... execpt for the avatars being outside the messages and the no text appearing on the page. Going to re-read everything but if there is a fix for it and you know it feel free to post it.

Any one have a fix for the mod posting avatars outside the messages on the top left and making the message area really small and the text unreadable?

it is nice, but is there any mod allowing to turn off avatars/signatures of the several certain users only, not the all?

I think I've ironed out most of the problems with this mod for 2.0.8. The remaining problem has to do with sigs sometimes not appearing even with the flag set on. It's intermittent and I haven't found a pattern yet.

Does anyone have a clue about what could be happening? I'm doing this in a test forum before applying the mod to the live one.

thanks!

Forget it... I figured it out. :D I forgot about the pesky little "Always attach my signature" option. ;)

The other confusing thing is is you had your signatures turned off and then you turn them on, the posts you make while you have the off switch won't show your sig. For that, you will need a Retroactive Sig fix. It might be a good idea to install that just to have everything in synch.

So, to sum it up... If you follow everyone's fixes to the original mod, it will work for 2.0.8. It would be great for the author to update the download otherwise, people will continue to run into the same problems.

I will probably turn it on live on my forum once I effect the changes for the other skins.

thanks!

reddem0n wrote: ok so this finally works and all that but for some reason most of my users profile is set to No by default. How can I change this?

I wondered the same thing.. it seems to randomly change it back to "no" even after it's been changed to "yes" and it's only for the signatures.. any thoughts on how can I fix this?

I am trying to add this mod but I can't find this section

#-----[ OPEN ]------------------------------------------
#
language/lang_english/lang_main.php
#
#-----[ FIND ]------------------------------------------
#
//
// That's all, Folks!
#
#-----[ BEFORE, ADD ]------------------------------------------
#
$lang['Show_avatars'] = 'Show Avatars in Topic';
$lang['Show_signatures'] = 'Show Signatures in Topic';

I finally found out that I just have to add this before

?>

at the end of the file.
