This happens alot...
While it's still generating the RSS feed it starts to display it, but since it isnt finished theres an error, when the full page loads, or when the solution to the error loads it disapears.

pls. Help:
http://www.aureus-rector.net/forum/rss.php

:?

First thing
Check that
/templates/invision_blue/rss_body.tpl
exists

in the default install it will put it in
/templates/subsilver/rss_body.tpl

Please post again after you verify that the file exists in the correct location.

It appears that you have eXtreme Styles installed on your board. Go into the ACP and select Configuration in your eXtremes Styles section. I believe it was the following setting that needs to be changed. It should be No, not Yes...

This is a long thread, and I'll admit that I didn't read the whole thing. I'm green when it comes to RSS stuff, too, so I don't know if email addresses are supposed to be in there, but I didn't really want my admin addresses advertised in the feed. I made this change:

Code: Select all

// Variable reassignment for Topic Replies
$l_topic_replies = $lang['Topic'] . ' ' . $lang['Replies'];
$template->assign_vars(array(
  'S_CONTENT_ENCODING' => $lang['ENCODING'],
  'BOARD_URL' => $index_url,
  'BOARD_TITLE' => $site_name,
  'BOARD_DESCRIPTION' => $site_description,
  'BOARD_MANAGING_EDITOR' => "", //$board_config['board_email'],
  'BOARD_WEBMASTER' => "", // $board_config['board_email'],
  'BUILD_DATE' => gmdate('D, d M Y H:i:s', time()) . ' GMT',
  'L_AUTHOR' => $lang['Author'],
  'L_POSTED' => $lang['Posted'],
  'L_TOPIC_REPLIES' => $l_topic_replies,
  'L_POST' => $lang['Post'])
);
The feed still works fine, but the addresses don't go out with it. I'm sure that spammers have a way to sniff feeds for email addresses.

The reason for the admin e-mail is so that they can contact you if they have a problem or an inquery.

Just standard stuff.

Reading RSS causes you to have no new topics on return.

I use Google Desktop 2 and i have my rss feed as a web clip.

It constantly downloads it and displays the feeds.

When i go to the site thers always no new topics.

The only reason that this is happening is because the rss feed is beaing read.

Great job!

If you insert this at line 6 of templates\subSilver\overall_header.tpl, then the feeds are autodetected as live bookmarks by Firefox etc. :

<!-- MOD RSS -->
<link href="http://your_site_here.com/forum/rss.php" rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="YOUR_RSS_FEED_NAME_HERE" />

Thanks,
Harald

Hey guys, few questions:
1) What would I change to have the Sender displayed as the person who made the post, not the site name?
2) How would I make it so the Date/Time sent out was the time the post was made (currently it appears the date is the time your rss reader got the feed)
