Me too want to move the box on the top of the borad index.
And coul we adjust the number of topics displayed at once, say 5 without flow like displaying, I mean standstill display rather than keep repeating of the flow.

Anyone can help me about these two modification?
Please.

Thankyou

Hi,

10x for this great MOD.

Any ideea how can this code be optimised for large forums? It takes aprox. 8-10 seconds to execute on my forum index page. Without the code it takes 2-3 seconds for the index page to load.

Code: Select all

$sql = "SELECT t.topic_id, t.topic_title, t.topic_last_post_id, t.forum_id, t.topic_type, t.topic_status, p.post_id, p.poster_id,
	p.post_time, u.user_id, u.username, u.user_lastvisit
	FROM " . TOPICS_TABLE . " t, " . FORUMS_TABLE . " f, " . POSTS_TABLE . " p, " . USERS_TABLE . " u
	WHERE t.forum_id IN " . $auth_view_forum_sql . " AND t.topic_id = p.topic_id
	AND f.forum_id = t.forum_id
	AND t.topic_status <> 2
	AND p.post_id = t.topic_last_post_id
	AND p.poster_id = u.user_id
	ORDER BY t.topic_last_post_id DESC";
One other thing I would be interested would be if the results can be cached somewhere.

Thanks,
john

I got a few issues trying to install the mod...

I did the changes to files, but even logged in, I still don't get any topics showing up in the Table for the latest topics. Also I don't know if I installed those SQL queries right. I use PHPMYADMIN so...yeah...

Also, in the admin panel, I type in a number for the number of topics to display in the table, and when I go back to check it, it's reset to blank. I can't seem to keep any numbers in there. I know this is old stuff, but I need help installing it.

Where is 1.1.8? ModDB contains 1.1.4 while on your forum it is 1.1.6
Can you post the changes ?

Sorry for spamming this topic :)

I have one other question: did you include a word censorship in the newest version?

Hi,

The word censor is part of the forum proper and a separate instance of it would be pointless.

All this MOD does is pull the latest post information from the database and displays it in a location different to the norm (as in the topic itself)

Word censoring should continue to be done in the Admin CP..

Hope this helps,

Des. . .

Figured it out! Great module.

Now, is there any way to display this info somewhere else on the site, besides index.php.

You can use "topics anywhere" mod for this.
