Lost text from profile and registration form

Post by HummerNetwork » Wed Jan 24, 2007 8:05 pm

I've somehow lost the text "Always enable spellcheck" from the registration form and from the profile. Both now show just a colon and the radio buttons. I assume it should be included in the lang_main.php file somewhere. How can I restore it?

Found the problem and solved it. The problem was in the profile_add_body.tpl file under each template. Somehow the text disappeared from the Spelling Cow section of that file. It's weird. I did do another mod on that file, but never changed that part of it. Line 227 (on mine) should read:

Code: Select all

          <td class="row1"><span class="gen">{L_ALWAYS_SPELL_CHECK}Always Spell Check:</span></td>
The "Always Spell Check" text was missing, leaving only the colon.

BTW, if you want it to default to "No", change line 231 to:

Code: Select all

                <input type="radio" name="spellcheck" value="0" checked {ALWAYS_SPELL_CHECK_NO} />

when i first installed spellcow, the members had to turn it off in their profile. for some reason when i upgraded that stopped. i have one forum where i allow guests to post and if they didnt do the spellcheck they couldnt post. i am getting slammed with bots in that forum now. i would like to be able to make spellcheck automatica again and hope that that turns the bots away. im not sure how to make the spellcheck automatic now. can someone help? thanks

spellcheck.com pop-up window

Post by hammondls » Wed Feb 14, 2007 12:23 am

I have recently installed the spellingcow mod v1.6 using Easymod and I have manually went through the spellingcow_full_1-6-0 text file to make sure everything was modified correctly however when I go profiles under Preferences I don’t see the spellcheck option. I have an empty line/box which I’m sure used to be or should be the spellcheck option but the only thing I see in the line/box is a semicolon (:). To the right of the empty box with the semicolon in it are your options for Yes or No; I selected Yes in the box and when I went back to click the spellcheck button I received a spellcheck.com pop-up window that reads Britney :: PHP :: Job Search …

Has anyone ever had this problem?

...I had spelling cow installed on my forums, and a few of my users, one in particular, loved it. However, it started going all wonky on me. Assuming I broke it with another mod, I just uninstalled it. However, I'm upgrading and doing some extra modding so I thought I'd try the cow again.

I'm getting the same error. I go through my post, hit the cow, and get this in the popup window:

Britney :: PHP :: Job Search :: Politics :: Health :: Law :: Education :: Travel :: Sports :: Technology :: Main :: Main2

The first two lines-- heck if I know. Everything from "Dramatis Personae" on down is my board's text output on the index. It's formatted correctly, but no stylesheet link, so it looks kind of weird. If I click on the Spelling Cow link at the very top, it opens a new tab (using Firefox) in the popup window with spellingcow.com.

Any answers? If I don't get a response in the next two or three days I'm just going to have to uninstall it again.

Anyone can tell me how to fix this error? I've had the latest spelling check working great only until recently today...

I am having the same problem... the Spelling Cow button no longer works and instead opens a page with "Spelling Cow" on the top and my main page down below (unformatted as explained in above posts).

Looks to me like the SpellingCow people have changed their links around and broke this mod...

I've had this MOD installed for a while. No-one on my forum seems to like it. Could someone please explain a way, if there is one, to manually remove it from the database.

i dont know (because i dont have time to read thru all the pages) if this is the way it is supposed to work but when i try to submit a post it automatically brings up spellingcow forcing the poster to click ignore or whatever (to use spelling cow) and submit thru spelling cow instead of bypassing it.

is this normal?
