Great MOD.

Well done.
I've put it on my forum at http://forum.manipef1.com.

It works perfectly.

If you could describe what problem/error you get that might help ;) What's not working?

PS: for your site, without a test (or demo) account to log in, can't see nothing!

I installed this MOD and it is working great. I have a member who doesn't frequent my board as often as most who uses the "Mark all forums read" function to catch up. He was asking whether that cleared the new topics since last visit count and I couldn't tell him. This doesn't bother me at all, but I could see how it might to someone else...

My question is, does the "New Topics Since Last Visit" count reset when the "Mark all forums read" function is used? If not, would it be difficult to add that functionality to this MOD???

It kinda does... but it depends on what you want. It will work just like the "New posts since last visit", aka it will still list all the topics since last visit, they're just all gonna be shown as read.

But it searches (as for new posts since LV) for topics made after the user's last visit. If you want it to then report no new topics, that wouldn't be new topics since LV no more.. maybe new unread topics since LV then...

But this should probably be another MOD, turning New posts since LV into New unread posts since LV (then using it for new topics too should be easy..)

Bye,
fredol

I know I have messed up in the search.php area, just not sure exactly what it is that I modified incorrectly. I have since uploaded the initial search.php without any mods to it.

If you follow the instruction it should work fine, what errors/message did you get? If you want you could try using EasyMOD, it should install it fine 8)

The MOD works fine but is there a way to see the number of new topics? I have a mod for Posts that shows me the number of new posts sine last visit and would like this to do the same.

I tried to install this mod, it would be perfect for what I am looking for... but I guess the instructions are alil trickier.. it doesn’t work for me :(

is there a set of simpler instructions... maybe with the whole code listed (not matter how long it is?)

This is the error I am getting (it seems to happen everytime I do this mod :( )

Code: Select all

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/sgisuppo/public_html/phpBB2/language/lang_english/lang_main.php:1028) in /home/sgisuppo/public_html/phpBB2/includes/page_header.php on line 466

-----edit------

also this part of the mod:

Code: Select all

#-----[ FIND ]-----
#
#Note: full line is longer
	if ( $search_id == 'newposts' || $search_id == 'egosearch'
#
#-----[ IN-LINE FIND ]-----
#
)
#
#-----[ IN-LINE BEFORE, ADD ]-----
#
|| $search_id == 'newtopics'
#
#-----[ FIND ]-----
#
		if ( $search_id == 'newposts' || $search_id == 'egosearch'
#
#-----[ IN-LINE FIND ]-----
#
( $search_author !=
#
#-----[ IN-LINE BEFORE, ADD ]-----
#
$search_id == 'newtopics' ||
for the add-ins do I do that to both lines each? or the first add-in to the first occurance of the [find] and the second add-in to the second occurance of the [find] (which is the same thing)

No once you've done a FIND, you can forget about previous line ; so each ADD has to be made only referring to the last FIND made - that how it works for each & every MODs
