You need to install a MOD to use the Global Announcements. You cand find it here: http://www.phpbbhacks.com/download/345

The add-on was introduced in 2.0.0. In this version there are 2 differents dividers for Announcements and for Sticky Topics. In the previous release instead, Ann & Stickies were displayed together in the same section. Applying the Add-On you can display them together as it happened with 1.x version.

I'm happy to see the upgrade works (excuse me for that little errors...). I'll include the upgrade files in the next releases :)

Thank you very much for the hack. I will soon enough install it. Too bad that phpbb.com hasn't validated it yet. I guess I will have to see if it's compatible with EasyMOD like I have done in the past with those hacks from that site.

About your little errors. No biggie, you had everything else perfect, so kudos for that!

Glad you liked the upgrade install file. As you can see, I kept it simple so EasyMOD would have no trouble with it. Thanks! :)

find in your lang_main.php these lines:

Code: Select all

$lang['Topic_Announcement'] = '<b>Announcement:</b>';
$lang['Topic_Sticky'] = '<b>Sticky:</b>';
and replace them with

Code: Select all

$lang['Topic_Announcement'] = '';
$lang['Topic_Sticky'] = '';
I think it should work :)

i tried this, and it took away the names in the separation bars not the part that says Announcement and Sticky before each post. do you have any other suggestions?

Hmm, are u sure to have made the right modifications??? However, try this:
In viewforum.php, find:

Code: Select all

if( $topic_type == POST_ANNOUNCE )
{
	$topic_type = $lang['Topic_Announcement'] . ' ';
}
else if( $topic_type == POST_STICKY )
{
	$topic_type = $lang['Topic_Sticky'] . ' ';
}
else
{
	$topic_type = '';
}
and replace it with:

Code: Select all

$topic_type = '';

Good job Aiencran! Got it up and working in no time, after installing the "Global Announcement" mod. Very nice addition to my mods collection. And, I do like the "organized" look. Thank you!

Since the search function only returns an empty page (no matter what i search on) i'll try my luck here with my questions since one is related to this mod ;)

1) Is there also a mod that will move the locked topics to the bottom of the forum list, or can this mod be adapted to provide that functionality ?

2) is there a mod that will allow you to view the posts in a topic from new to old (based on user preference ?)

Thanks :)

Is anyone else having problems with the search on this forum ?

I'll work on it. One question (for all): should the locked topics be displayed after all topics or only at the bottom of every page?

For the other questions, I can't help you. However the search function should regularly work.
