sorry to bump this

I also noticed that that the smileys in the popup window are placed at the end of the text regardless where the cursor was.

cheers

In Firefox, when selecting text or clicking on a BBCode Button, we are always taken back to the beginning of the post after the insertion of the code; this does not happen in IE.

Is there a way to fix this so that the focus remains on the inserted BBcode?

Thank you! :)

the same happens to me in Firefox. anyone an idea how to fix it?

Did you try the version I posted on the last page. I use Firefox and it works as it should.

Thanks for replying bonelifer :)

Yes, I did install that one.

It does work really well but not for above mentioned issues:

Thank you! Smile

Actually, I have been playing about when posting. The main issue is basically that once the BBCode or smiley is placed, the view jumps to beginning of the post, however, when moving the cursor left and right keys I noticed that the cursor was still where the BBCode or smiley was placed. The place of the cursor is not actually changed just the view. This is only really noticeable if you have a lot of text in the text box and the scroll bars are visible. Still strange though... (Funnily enough that does happen (very) occasionally on IE as well).

The other issue is that when opening the window "View more Emoticons" and selecting a smiley from that window, it still places that smiley at the bottom of the text regardless where the cursor was.
When I use the "standard smilies available" on the left everything works and the smilie is placed wherever the cursor was.

I am using a different style so installed it on a vanilla version to see whether there was a conflict of some sort but I got the same results as mentioned above... :?

bonelifer, i guess that you do not have the issues above? I am using Firefox 1.5.0.4 btw

Thanks

I'm using 1.5.0.4 also. The first problem doesn't appear on our forum. Maybe it has something to do with your computer. The second one I do get but that has to do with the POPUP technically being a different window than the posting window. Since they are different windows the popup doesn't know the posting windows cursors current state, so it just appends the smilie to the end where it knows it safe to put it. Aparently IE does it differently than FF and that needs to be taken into account.

I had some complaints from Firefox users, so I found this post and applied the patches so it inserts the code in the correct place. The link in the Mods database still points to the original version, rather than a fixed one.

There is still the problem where the textbox is scrolled to the top after inserting a bbcode.... The work-around is to hit the left-arrow key and it snaps back in place.... Is there any fix for this?

I really think the First post in this topic should be updated to 1.0.1 I was without the update for ages, and only just realised today; people searching for mods will simply think the mod is faulty.

Can't someone PLEASE update the first post to include the changes to version 1.0.1? And fresh links to it (an official release version)...
