Afterward I manually created the user_name_first and user_name_last. Everything seems to be working on the profiles now, but there is one option that isn't working.
The SQL part of the MOD has three lines:
ALTER TABLE phpbb_users ADD user_name_first VARCHAR(64) DEFAULT '' NOT NULL;
ALTER TABLE phpbb_users ADD user_name_last VARCHAR(64) DEFAULT '' NOT NULL;
INSERT INTO `phpbb_config` (`config_name`, `config_value`) VALUES ('name_first_display',1),('name_last_display',0),('name_first_required',1),('name_last_required',0);
Did you do the last one successfully?

I have managed to install this MOD.

Here's what you have to do in just easy 1 - 2 - 3 steps.

Open addnametoprofile.mod

1. (find)

Code: Select all

#-----[ FIND ]---------------------------------------------------
#
 	$strip_var_list = array('username' => 'username', 'email' => 'email',
----------------------------- REPLACE WITH -----------------------------

Code: Select all

#-----[ FIND ]---------------------------------------------------
#
#	$strip_var_list = array('username' => 'username', 'email' => 'email',
         $strip_var_list = array('email' => 'email',
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. (find in same file)

Code: Select all

#-----[ FIND ]--------------------------
#
$template->assign_vars(array(
#		'USERNAME' => $username,
----------------------------- REPLACE WITH -----------------------------

Code: Select all

#-----[ FIND ]--------------------------
#
$template->assign_vars(array(
#		'USERNAME' => $username,
		 'USERNAME' => isset($username) ? $username : '',

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3.

Upload (and replace if necessary) your addnametoprofile.mod

* I have the latest phpBB 2.0.22 installed and did this with the addnametoprofile105.zip

After installed successfully I have noticed something wrong with this MOD.

When I go to the Profile webpage and check the "first name" or "last name" information of that user, I noticed that these fields (first and last name) are always empty; no matter if they are filled in or not at the phpbb_users table (user_name_first and user_name_last fields). Is anyone having same glitches ?

Is it simply a matter of increasing the fields overall to add additional input fields to the registration process?

I like to collect users address, post code and country in their registrations...

And where do I add the code to get the information user_name_first and user_name_last from the table?

I installed this mod on my board using EasyMod. My board is the latest phpBB 2.0.22.
The mod works great. Thank you for a great mod.

That said I do have to point out that this mod, in its current form, will NOT work with phpBB 2.0.22. When I first tried to install it I got the following error:

Code: Select all

Critical Error

FIND FAILED: In file [includes/usercp_register.php] could not find:

$strip_var_list = array('username' => 'username', 'email' => 'email',

MOD script line #233 :: FAQ :: Report
I did a lot of reading here and found that if you receive the above error in EasyMod you have to change 2 things in the original mod file where it deals with the usercp_register.php file.
Open the original mod file and make the folling 2 changes.

First find:

Code: Select all

$strip_var_list = array('username' => 'username', 'email' => 'email',
and replace it with:

Code: Select all

$strip_var_list = array('email' => 'email', 'icq' => 'icq',
Then find:

Code: Select all

$template->assign_vars(array(
               'USERNAME' => $username,
and replace it with:

Code: Select all

$template->assign_vars(array(M
               'USERNAME' => isset($username) ? $username : '',
After doing the above changes EasyMod should install this mod fine now. This was what worked for me.

No, that is just what is REPORTING the error.
The error is actually in one of your template files. It will be one you edited as part of this MOD.

I have not had the time to do any further work on this MOD (or any of my other ones) to keep them up to date with the changes in phpBB.

I have read that some users have updated the code themselves to correctly enable the MOD for the current version of phpBB, can someone who has successfully updated this MOD's code to install and work correctly on the current phpBB version please post the code here (feel free to add comments giving yourself credit for the update), I will then re-submit the MOD to update the current one and save all of this confusion with people trying to install it on a newer version of phpBB than it was designed for.
