Is it possible to do something like this?

Post by [D]J »

Hi, I've set up my Forum so that users need to activate their account by clicking on the link sent by e-mail. This works fine but I was wondering if it was possible to autologin users in the Forum once they activate their account by clicking on the link sent in the e-mail.
Many users on my site in fact mails me everyday saying "I registered but I don't know how to login!" (and I made the login panel big and visible on top of each page...). Any help?

Thank you!

Hi,

You could always edit the activation email to include the log in page link. And give an explaination that they need to 1 - Activate and then 2 - Log in. . .

Hope that helps. . . :D

I already did that but many users (dumb?) still can't understand how to do this. I've seen some forums which autologin you after you click the activation link... how to do that?

Hi,

The auto log-in is based on a cookie on the persons PC. Generally you will not get that cookie until you log in with the check box checked.

You, or whoever, has therefore got to set a cookie at the time of activation that says log in true and auto log in.

I would think that your best solution here would be to request a MOD for this in the MOd request forum. . .

Not blonde are they? Makes me think of the "If PC users were drivers. . .". Frightening thought. . .

Hope this helps. . . :D

Hi,

I may have found the answer to your Problem. . .

There is a MOD called "Redirection Suite". You can find it Here.

Allows you to redirect people anywhere. . .

Hope that helps. . . :D
