Today (my board's been up for 18 months) a user emailed me and indicated that he/she couldn't upload an avatar. He said that he was getting the permissions error. (I searched and found this to be very common.
I checked both /tmp and /images/avatars and found both to be set to 666. I tried uploading a 25x25 pixel image and got the same errors. I chmodded both directories to 777. Same error.
I then went to the ACP and checked if uploading was enabled. It is
Enable gallary avatars: Yes
Enable remote avatars: Yes
Enable avatar uploading: Yes
Maximum size: 6144 bytes
Maximum Dimensions: 80 x 80
Storage path: /images/avatars (set to 777)
After I check this, I go to my profile and - lo - I no longer have the upload or select from gallery settings.
What is up?
The only changes since the last time I see a user uploaded an avater (many have) are:
1. I added pseudocron
2. I added a new version of M2F.
what changes have you made, did you install a new style/template?
that might be why some things are gone. if you edited any files, you may have messed up something that way.
