First off, forgive me if this has already been answered, but as I've looked through this thread for over an hour now, and also tried manually hacking this myself for over 4 with no dice, I haven't seen the exact answer I'm looking for.. :oops:

I've installed the mod successfully and I have 8 feeds going into 8 different sub-forums/categories on my board, and it all works perfectly, no dups or anything like that!! So thank you mucho for that :D

My problem is this: My feeds are coming from a wordpress blog, different categories going to different parts of the forum. So, for example, I have this:

Code: Select all

name      url                     destination_id
Foo       http://...foo/feed/     2
Bar       http://...bar/feed/     3
The problem is, when the feed is posted into my forum, I don't need the 'name' field to show up in the topic, as 'foo' is the category, so inside my 'foo' category, all of my posts are saying:

Code: Select all

Index > Categories > Foo
Foo | This is some blah
Foo | Another blah
etc etc...
I noticed that the 'name' field in the database is the unique primary key for the 'phpbb_lastrss_autopost' table. Now I've tried changing the primary key to the 'url' and renaming all the 'name's, I've tried manually editing functions_lastrss_autopost.php here:

Code: Select all

// prepare data for posting
$subject = truncate_string($post_data['name'] . ' | ' . $post_data['items'][$i]['title']);
to:

Code: Select all

$subject = truncate_string('BlehNews | ' . $post_data['items'][$i]['title']);
or even:

Code: Select all

$subject = truncate_string($post_data['items'][$i]['title']);
To omit the inclusion of the 'name', but no dice. Basically it works slightly, but I'm not getting all my posts from the feed, and some of the feeds didn't work at all.

Like I said it works 100% perfectly when it includes '$post_data['name'] . ' in every thread topic, but it's very redundant in my situation, so I'm wondering if anyone has been able to successfully avoid displaying it completely or at LEAST have a universal tag in front of all the topics such as '*BlehNews | ' to display in each thread in each category as opposed to using different 'name's for each feed?? :shock:

I make a little contribution with people that works whit Topic Description:

Code: Select all

In functions_lastrss_autopost.php find

'notify'			=> false,

and after add:

'topic_description'	=> '',

that solves the problem with these mod
And now, my question xD, Is there any way to work with this RSS?

Code: Select all

http://www.mcanime.net/rss
I get the next error:

Code: Select all

SQL ERROR [ mysqli ]

Incorrect string value: '\xF1ol. [...' for column 'post_text' at row 1 [1366]

Just go to, phpbb_lastrss_autopost table, and insert a new register:

Code: Select all

`name` - name of the feed - is also used in posting
`url` - URL of the feed ...
`next_check` - next check time (from PHP function time())
`next_check_after` - number of hours between checks
`destination_id` - forum_id where BOT will try to post
`enabled` INT( 1 ) - boolean - if true, this feed will be checked
The column destination_id is te ID of the forum you want to post the bot ^^.

I got the mod installed without much problems.

Even the basic posts the bot makes works

but for some reason my xml feed from wow.com doesn't work...

www.wow.com/rss.xml

this is my result atm:
http://www.uglygnome.be/vetzakskes/view ... =d&start=0

He made a post like he should but for some reason as guest and if you click the post it doesn't exist...

Got the feeling i'm close but i'm started banging my head against the wall now :)

@nfountou:

I was getting a zero sized reply error almost every time when using the mod set to curl. Then I changed it to fopen and the error was gone. :D

I have it working, but is there a way to get it to post the full text instead of a link to the text.

here's how to stop removing line breaks from the rss feeds (i think there was no way to do it so far so i had to find it on my own)

replace

Code: Select all

					if ($this->strip_html && $result['items'][$i]['description'])
					{
						$result['items'][$i]['description'] = strip_tags($this->unhtmlentities(strip_tags($result['items'][$i]['description'])));
					}
with

Code: Select all

					if ($this->strip_html && $result['items'][$i]['description'])
					{
						$result['items'][$i]['description'] = strip_tags($this->unhtmlentities(strip_tags(preg_replace("/\<br\s*\/?\>/i", "\n", $result['items'][$i]['description']))));
					}
Locked
