Sure. Instead of <![CDATA you just have to use <![CDATA

Thank you for the quick reply! I assume that the replacement will function the same in the overall_header because it is an html file? Seems to work fine atm.

It shouldn't be in the file literally, you should copy the rendered CDATA without the HTML escaping.

No, there is not a way to do either of those functions.

You should be looking at UMIL instead: http://www.phpbb.com/mods/umil/

It's possible to warn users not use a regular text editor while install a MOD by hand ?

The user completely lose a file.

And this is a very common problem

You can put that in the Author notes if you want.
Need a mod/extension created/installed, other custom-coded solution or a server admin? https://tumba25.net

Of course I can do it from now, I just want to contribute...
You should know this is a very common problem, mostly for newbie 8-)

IMHO the user is right, this should be a common note for all.
I was thinking add a note in the Disclaimer & Other Notes

That certainly sounds reasonable to me. I know I messed something up once trying to use Windows Notepad because of the requirements for editing text files (UTF-8 with no BOM or something most newbies -- or Windows users -- wouldn't understand).

I need to ask this one more time, here because I see some discrepancies :
According the sample-30-123.xml file, in the link-group tag, extra .xml files for templates should go directly in the same folder as the main install.xml
If I do not understand it in the wrong way, extra .xml template files should go in the contrib folder for AutoMOD ?

Thanks

Our policy states:
All changes to the phpBB core files should be placed in the install.xml file. Changes for non-English languages and non-prosilver templates should not be placed in this file. These should have a separate XML file, but should be linked to from the main install file using the link tag.

(...)

Optional install files or instructions should be placed within the contrib directory. Additional required instructions should be placed in the root directory or in a directory called named xml/.
So you can put it in either the root, in contrib/ or in xml/.

would you consider adding conditional statements in MODX ?

currently this find action will fail if the string isn't found. but i think it would be nice to be able to add an if-else construct to this.

Code: Select all

<find><![CDATA[//@define('EMED_MYMOD', true);]]></find>
for example :

Code: Select all

<edit>
<condition>
<find><![CDATA[//@define('EMED_MYMOD', true);]]></find>
<then>
 <action>action type</action>
</then>
<else>
 <action>another action type</action>
</else>
</condition>
</edit>

It's an interesting thought but it would make MODX extremely complex and wouldn't give enough benefit. MODX is designed as a diff system. Logic really doesn't belong into there.
