Post by Trokal »

while installing phpbb i got everything right (the change permission and the database creation..)
but when i arrive at advanced settings part and click proceed to next step i get this error:

Code: Select all

Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /phpBB3/install/index.php on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Apache/2.2.9 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.9 OpenSSL/0.9.8e-fips-rhel5 mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 mod_perl/2.0.4 Perl/v5.8.8 Server at www.xxxxxxx.com Port 80
why please? :(

Dear stevemaury,

same error showed up even though i followed perfectly what's written in the guide, for the second time.
when i arrive at "Configuration file" it tells me: The configuration file has been written. You may now proceed to the next step of the installation.

i don't know why.
then after clicking on proceed to the next step in advanced settings (moving from advanced settings to create database table) i get this error.

i checked the index.php file and it's 644 before and after the error.
while config.php is now 600 (after the error)
and now when trying to enter the forum normally it gives me a general error (sql) which is normal because i wasn't able to create the database table.

thanks for helping!

by the way can we have to phpbb forum for the same domain? like
.com/forum66
&
.com/forum77
with 2 seperate config.php file, one in every forum?

Are you sure you did all the permissions correctly?

Double check them again to make sure.

Try 777 while installation, it always works. ;)

Ask your host if he's running mod_security, sometimes it causes these errors.

Ask them to disable it and see if it sorts the problem out.
If it does, then you know that's the problem.

SecFilterEngine Off
SecFilterScanPOST Off
but still nothing...

Code: Select all

The configuration file has been written. You may now proceed to the next step of the installation.
