So I did - don't know how I missed that! Anything else you can find? If not then I'll fix that and submit it for release :)

There doesn't appear to be anything else, as I checked with the debug on (sorry I posted that error in the wrong topic, I was confused ). Good luck with the release! :)

Thanks for checking it out. I'll try to get it uploaded and approved as v1.4 soon so that other people can enjoy it as a "released" MOD :)

Hmmm, odd. That's a very simple link (just an anchor on the page) so I don't know why it'd give an Error 400. Can you provide a link for me to check?

Only very vaguely, and it is somewhat wasteful on resources and has minimal functionality for that task.

The closest you could get is to put "warned" people into a group that isn't allowed to change its rank theme, set their rank theme to a special one that only has a single "warned" icon, then switch them back afterwards. The problem there is that a) it takes no account of how many times they're warned and b) you've got to remember what their old rank theme was (and remember to remove them from the group once their ban expires).

You'd be better off looking for a "warning icon" or "warning bar" MOD rather than poking any of the rank-related stuff since the two are generally not related.

Could you maybe give us an estimate as to when the official release will be out, and if there will be much change between this version and the official release?

[RC]MultiRace 1.3.5 and [RC]Special Ranks 1.1.0 with Integration Patch applied.
Went to the ACP > Users&Groups ( tab ) > Manage users
Selected a user, and selected "Rank" in the "Select form dropdown" and got this:

Code: Select all

[phpBB Debug] PHP Notice: in file /includes/acp/acp_users.php on line 1796: Undefined variable: s_rank_theme_options
[phpBB Debug] PHP Notice: in file /adm/index.php on line 150: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /includes/functions.php:3493)

[phpBB Debug] PHP Notice: in file /adm/index.php on line 154: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /includes/functions.php:3493)
And the "Rank Themes" link in the Header gives the following when clicked:

Code: Select all

[phpBB Debug] PHP Notice: in file /memberlist.php on line 931: Undefined index: RANKSET_TEXT
[phpBB Debug] PHP Notice: in file /memberlist.php on line 931: Undefined variable: phpExt

I've got a couple of questions about this mod that I hope someone can tell me more about.

1) Can someone please show me a screenshot of how this mod looks in the ACP?

2a) Does this mod automatically change the rank image on all places where it is shown, or do you have to mod all files in which rank images are shown. By this question I am trying to find out if it is also changed in portal blocks (I use board3 portal) or that you have to mod the portal files as well.

2b) Does anyone have experience with this mod (and/or also special and normal rank image mod) on board3 portal?

3) I have understood that special ranks are a theme on their own, but is it also possible to have a special rank that has a seperate image for each theme? For example I have made a "Top Poster" rank image for all of the four themes that I cooked up. I want to be able to assign the Top Poster rank to a member, and that the right image conform the theme is selected automatically.

All help on this is much appreciated!

RocknRoll: Please double-check your install. I'll check the instructions as well. It isn't an error I've seen before at any point, but most of it is extra warnings that are only caused by the first warning. "Undefined variable: phpExt" does imply that something is wrong with your install, though, as that is a core phpBB variable.

AylaAsperger: Whenever I'm sure that I've got all of the bugs and after however long it takes for the phpBB staff to approve it. Once people can't find any more bugs or missing instructions then the last release here will become v1.4. If I made any changes between the last release here and the v1.4 that I submitted then there wouldn't have been much point in people testing it ;)

As for your questions:

1) I don't have a screenshot to hand, but it basically adds sub-headings within the "Manage Ranks" table as well as a "add rank theme" button at the bottom. The general layout remains the same.

2a) No, you'll need to pass in the user's rank theme. If you don't then they'll use the "default" theme. There's no feasible way to get it to always give the right rank for everyone without modification.

3) You'd just have to have four "Top Poster" ranks in the "special" theme and apply them from there. Special ranks are, by definition, special and so can't really be made to work with rank themes without a major re-work of the phpBB rank tables.

About 2a, I mean that if you assign a theme to a user, it will automatically show that theme everywhere. With special and normal rank images, I found out that it was only visbile on the message and the profile, and at the pm and the portal the original was still shown. Thats why I asked this question.

The Special and Normal Rank Images should appear in all locations in a default phpBB install (I think I even put in an option for people who wanted both on the members list), but you need to add code for it to appear anywhere else as it needs to request the rank twice (once for normal and once for special, if they have it).

The Multi-Race Rank Themes MOD should also appear in all location in a default phpBB install, buy you again need to add code for it to appear anywhere else as it needs to know which rank theme to use. By default it will use the "default" rank theme if you haven't passed the extra parameter to the rank fetching method.

So, both should be compatible with other MODs/addons that display the ranks in different places, but both will probably need extra code.
