Yes, I realize that. Again, I just like playing with stuff and figuring it out. I will have a look that the documentation. Thanks!

As EXreaction has said, this code is still unstable, and it is also important to note that one of the unstable features is category management, specifically the changing of category parents. Therefore, if you do notice issues with category management when using the latest code from SVN, please understand that we are aware of this as the code is still quite unstable. ;)

Looks great - unfortunately I don't have any time to contribute any MODs to it but a good effort by all concerned to finally get it online and working :) .

I may be totally misunderstanding what this means, but if the code is so unstable why has it been implemented on this site?

Surely a delay of a few more weeks or months till some of the stability issues could have been resolved wouldn't have mattered.

It was actually set up and tested for over a month or two right where it's now being used before we went live with it. Unfortunately none of the issues that have been reported were experienced during testing which is what Tom's referring to when he says the code is still unstable. It's a bit problematic and hard to actually test such software because it targets a specific smaller group of people (MOD and Styles developers) in an already small group of people (phpBB users). So far the bugs have been or are being addressed in a timely fashion so we're trying to keep up and make changes as fast as we can.

Unstable as in it changes frequently.

The far majority of the work has been in the last 10-11 months. The biggest problem of bugs is that they are very hard to find. All of this code has been tested when it was built and tested throughout the last few months with data converted from phpbb.com's old database. It takes far more man-power to test code thoroughly than it does to write it and test it briefly a few times and it frankly doesn't really matter if you spend a bunch of additional time trying to find them or not because there will always be something you missed. We can fix the major issues relatively quickly and move on to the smaller things (mostly comprised of feature alteration requests)

Thanks for clearing that up guys.

A friend of mine is a programmer (not php) and the organisation she works for had an intermittent bug in some code (the worst kind) that took them months to find. It was a single incorrect character.

IMHO this is good, a complex code like this, is quite hard to test, with few people.

When you are developing you try to find out may problems as you think it's possible, when you think it's ready, you release it, with the use it of regular users, some problems/suggestions came to you, and probably you never think about that can happens, some of them must be fixed quickly, other can wait.

Titania's Team: you are doing a great job, please continue, and happy code for all

Yes, you can get it here: http://code.phpbb.com/projects/customisationdb

But you will probably not receive any help with downloading and installing it.

First of all thank you for your reply.
1. Is it legal to download and install the system "Titania" on my board?
2. I got lost in the site
http://code.phpbb.com/projects/customisationdb
There may be a direct link for download?

1) Yes. Titania is licensed under the same license as phpBB, GNU GPL v2.
2) If you're familar with SVN, you can "checkout" the latest code with:

Code: Select all

svn checkout http://code.phpbb.com/svn/customisationdb/trunk/
There's not a zipped package available from phpBB.com

1. Yes it's GPLv2
2. You need to use a subversion client to get the code. We currently have no plans of providing download packages of the customisation db.
