Not without a MOD.

There are also plenty of privacy considerations of such a feature. If you intend to add such a thing, you certainly should tell your users.

So, call me dumb, but by MOD, do you mean MODIFICATION or MODERATOR?? :?
Thanks!

He meant Modification. :)
Typically in phpBB, we will refer to a set of code changes as a MOD and people that assist in keeping the board in line as a Mod. Capitalization! ;)

PM's can be reported (in which case moderators can view the reported PM). ;)

Why would you want to see PMs? That seems a bit...

Might just be to make sure users don't insult each other in private. ;)
If that's the case though you could post an announcement telling your users about the Report PM option.

If people are insulting each other over private messages that's when you should take a screenshot and send it to a mod/admin somebody on the staff/bannable side there.

Alternatively, you can simply report it, which, as has been previously mentioned, will allow any moderator with the proper permissions to view it. ;)

Not quite true. MODs imply changing the phpBB base code, but my spoof_user script (which can be used to view any user's PMs) does not change any code. ;)
