Modification Name: Twitter Tweet Buttons
Author: Skinny Vinny

Modification Description: Adding the new twitter button to pages with url/href defined to eliminate forks in tweet counts.
Modification Version: 1.0.1

Features: Mod will built button for template with url defined: pages 3, 10, 9999 of a topic will all point to page 1 of topic to eliminate forks in tweet count by page and duplicate urls.

Update, solved the missing tweet counts of topic/forum pages. See demo site.

I'll throw this one together later today or tomorrow (like i need more to do... anything to avoid documenting other work lol). Twitter has just rolled out their own tweet button to the public. Information of it was leaked 2 days ago, and until now only worked for select beta testers and developers.

They're a very simple addition.
The only reason to pack them as a mod is to control the urls.

Be advised, we're dealing with twitter here.
Fail wail isn't famous because of their stability and performance...
Twitter issues should not hinder page resolution here though.

For the bottom i think it should be "Post Reply" "Twitter" "Facebook" buttons in that order. Let me know if you need testing.

Made some progress with this one (and my fb like/recommends) tonight, but good old twitter is having some issues so this work goes on pause

Twitter tweet is on hold as I believe there to be an issue with dynamic urls in tweet counts. I have some testing to do with it to verify so. If so, I'd recommend simply placing the tweet button without count on viewtopic/viewforum.

But what fun is that?
Clearly twitter still has some work to do on these.

Yeah might not be as fun. But release the tweet button for now, thatll help then do an upgrade with tweet count.

Omfg.
I setup temp mod rewrite for custom url without get vars to use in tweet button to test if it was the dynamic urls that were impacting tweet counts, as i have yet to see a count on any viewtopic or viewforum page. Now, with the rewritten urls, they're starting to show counts when using those urls.

How stupid is that? It's appears to be exactly as I had suspected.

Demo/tests showed that tweet counts didn't start showing up on forum/topic pages until i rewrote the urls (removed the ?f=x&t=y portion, rewrote to fxty.htm in test). Tweet counts started after the test. So yes, it means that right now, without a url rewrite mod the twitter tweet counts will not display properly (forever 0 on demo site).

They're still quite useful and good to have. I'd suggest just using the button without the count on those pages though. Takes some fun out of it, but the functionality is all there.
