If I ban the email address *@hotmail.com will members that have already registered with a hotmail address still be able to login?

However no more @hotmail.com emails may be used to register to your board, and as hotmail.com is very popular, I would advise you don't block that email, unless it's for a specific purpose.

Yes you are right, ban the proper email and note down the ip.. if you found the new spam member with same ip and with hotmail id, just ban the ip address.
