Yes, that's the point of having a friends system installed.
Otherwise, except that it might list your entire user list, people could spam you. After all, phpbb doesn't have fb's privacy settings.

i think this is a good feature, for normal chatting a shoutbox like mchat make the rest and you can chat with all others.

i think this is a good way for fast private chatting with friends on board.

I posted a suggestion the forum on how to counter that problem:

By default, you can chat with every user on the forum, but you can put in a 1 button block feature with a confirmation box should the user become annoying.

There could be an ACP option.
Eg. for small clan sites or private sites it could be open, without needing mutual friendship.

I've got the FRAM mod installed on the demo board, it's quite good actually.

Meebo compatibility would make this mod lose its purpose. You can just integrate Meebo chat instead of this. This is simple and I like it

me too, since a long time the mod from kmlr is the best of the mutal friends mods.

sure i must tweak the mod a little bit and destroy the bugs but its the best sytem out there
