I am glad that the MOD met with the approval of the members phpBB3 :).
By creating it, I just added the jQuery library and a small javascript, which allowed the effect of blinking the number of new PM.
This little javascript was needed to get a blinking effect in the most popular browsers (mentioned in the description), because the html tag <blink> unfortunately doesn't provide that.

If you want to know the actual number of new messages you have to reload the page, as is the case in the basic version of phpBB3.

would it be possible to have it so that you don't need to refresh the page to see the PM's?

@neuropass, I'm not sure, I have no idea how to do it.

@TerrOr, is the number of new messages and the words "new messages", the whole is also red and blinking?
Do I understood you correctly?

Did you already use AutoMode or modify it manually?

It's better to work on UCP, in order to change the color via UCP!
Thanks man! ;)

I install al my mods manual and no only blinking the numbers of new post blinking

but I already know why the text is red

I have install that if you have a new messages then is the text red and if you have 1 unread messages then is the text blue
if you can't fix it with ducktape you ain't using enough

@boy_ofpersia, I'll think about it ;)

@Terr0r,
only blinking the numbers of new post blinking
This is the correct action of my mod :)

If you want the text "new messages" also changed the color, then you will have to make changes in a file: language/en/common.php

Find:

Code: Select all

'NEW_PM'               => '<strong><span class="blink" style="color: #FF0000;">%d</span></strong> new message',
       'NEW_PMS'               => '<strong><span class="blink" style="color: #FF0000;">%d</span></strong> new messages',
Replace with:

Code: Select all

'NEW_PM'               => '<span class="blink" style="color: #FF0000;"><strong>%d</strong> new message'</span>,
       'NEW_PMS'               => '<span class="blink" style="color: #FF0000;"><strong>%d</strong> new messages</span>',
It should work ;)

Check whether the file styles/your_style/template/overall_header.html (just before </header>)
if you are not given twice library jquery-1.3.2.min.js, it is forbidden.
(Some others Mods also use it.) If so, remove one of them and check.

Btw, what happens in other browsers?

its the same on other browsers.

<script type="text/javascript" src="{T_TEMPLATE_PATH}/jquery-1.5.2.min.js"></script>
this is the only thing i could find in my over_header.html, i found it somewhere down, but not before </header>.

the style im using is CA black by Artodia btw.

Strange but... ok, can You check whether jquery-blink.js, jquery-1.4.2.min.js or jquery-1.5.2.min.js files are the right place? (styles/your_style/template/)

And also look in the file overall_header.html, definitely before the </ header> must be code:

Code: Select all

<script type="text/javascript" src="{T_TEMPLATE_PATH}/jquery-1.4.2.min.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="{T_TEMPLATE_PATH}/jquery-blink.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" language="javascript">

$(document).ready(function()
{
        $('.blink').blink(); // default is 500ms blink interval.
        //$('.blink').blink({delay:100}); // causes a 100ms blink interval.
});

</script>
If you can, send me via PM your board address and name of the style folder, I'll watch myself Your overall_header.html file.
