Others members are able to Warn other users

Post by Matrix Leader »

Is this right? I thought only Mods and Admins should be able to Warn other users?

I created a test account and noticed that he can warn other users

How to fix this?

Thanks

check the permissions, to make sure members cannot warn

Permissions --> Groups' permissions --> Registered users --> Global moderator permissions

make sure in "Misc", "Can issue warnings" is set to No...

You don't want it set to Never for the Registered Users group because that will stop moderators (who should also be a member of that group) from having the permission - a Never overrides a Yes.

Help, normal members are able to issue warnings

Post by Matrix Leader »

I have just reinstalled my board from scratch with a brand new SQL Database as my previous installation was full of bugs and missing modules due to FreeForums.org moving my Free forum back then to fully hosted forum by Host Gator, but it was buggy

Anyway, This is an error which I had before, and I had a friend also register and test it and it's still the same,

normal users are able to issue warnings to others as if they were a mod.

He even issued me (the admin) a warning, please check the attachment

how can I fix this so normal users cannot issue warnings? I have no mods installed, and only the Prosilver style active

So what to set it to then?

I want to have only Moderators/Admins be able to issue warnings and not normal users.

Now I figured out the problem! My friend told me that all the new members are being assigned a Moderator Role.... that is why they are able to issue warnings!

:(

How to change that?

Ahh I figured out the problem!! I have Newly Registered users Group added to the Global Moderators accidentally!

Removing them from that group fixed the problem!

If anyone wants to know how to do that...

ACP > Permissions > Global Moderators > Groups
(Manage Groups) make sure you only have Global Moderators there

Please read and follow the rules here. We have a 6 hour bump rule (rule 4g). If you have more information to add and no one has replied to your previous post then just edit it. Bumping a topic moves it to the bottom of the queue.
